Hi!

Why making a factory reset I get a bootloop?

I also note that if I wipe Dalvik Cache/ART I get a bootloop.

Edit: after some tests I can tell there's not any problem with wiping dalvik cache or factory resets.

The first boot after installing concept-ify I got a bootloop in 90% cases (if not 100%, I can't remember) but in that cases, while in loop, I forced a reset by pressing Vol+ and Power button for some seconds. Then next start successes and an alert appers saying "Android is starting, optimizing app 3 of ...".

That amount of apps (3 of 19; 1 of 2, etc.) was variable in my tests, so I think it could be a bug in concept-ify for first boots.

Wish I could help some people, as I "wasted" several hours trying to guess what's happening.

Best regards and sorry for my english :p

Hi again:

After some other tests I can confirm that once you have installed concept-ify and use it as normal, if you power off or restart your phone, you get again a bootloop. And that bootloop keeps forever even with the workaround I described in my other post.

My test was:

1. Install Stock Rom (in my case, through a nandroid copy I had)
2. Flash newest recovery as it seems to be mandatory.
3. Usually factory reset to delete previous old data from my nandroid copy (from recovery)
4. Flash concept-ify from recovery
5. Flash mirror-screen-fix from recovery
6. Flash SkyMelon 9 from recovery (I need this because I can't use WiFi with skymelon inside concept-ify)
7. First boot I get a bootloop.
8. I press Vol+ and Power off until it restarts
9. Seconde boot finished and I can configure my phone as it was new.
10. Install my apps, some calls, messaging, even Android Auto (GPS ok), all fine.
11. Today I wanted to power off my phone and it's now stuck on a bootloop.

Please, any advice will be welcome. I think this ROM looks pretty well, but maybe it has some minor bugs which make it a non stable version.

Best regards

Hi again:

Just to confirm, If I only flash Concept-ify the bootloop disappears (only first time happens), but WiFi does not work. System says I need to activate it but it is activated.

If I flash Concept-ify and then SkyMelon 9, WiFi does work, but after a few reboots, the bootloop appears again and I can't access the operating system anymore.

For my first impressions about this ROM I think it's very light and user-friendly, but since it appears to be buggy, I think I have to choose another ROM. Any suggestions please?

Only Pexo rom saves you, no other rom here.

Thank you very much, I will give it a try. I liked concept-ify because of the "android stock" appearence, but it's buggy.

Are the developers going to fix it?
You can also try the installation as I said in the post of 30 August

I do not think that for a long time no one has introduced anything new.(build, patches..)

Hi, few days ago I had the same problem. Do following:
1. Flash m4 official rom by flasttool
2. Flash skymelon9
3. Flash concept-ify
It worked form me
Hi! I followed your steps, but same result. In this case, no WiFi. Besides, do it make sense to flash skymelon before concept-ify? When installing concept-ify, it shows "installing skymelon kernel", so I think it overwrites the first flash.

That's a pitty developers are not working on this any more. Concept-ify seemed pretty cool

I know, but then I also had trouble with wifi, then I tried different things and it helped me. :)

That's a shame. WiFi errors and constant bootloops. How can developers say it is stable? I appreciate their efford, but current version is not stable and it's not functional.

I have tried everything possible. When everything seems ok, after some reboot I get a bootloop. Very anonying.

after flashing ROM, or restoring backup via TWRP you must wipe caches etc., AND afterwards on first boot there is veeery long process of "optimizing apps", needs patience.

And, what here is unique in this ROM, the initial optimization triggers few reboots, so do not touch anything, just wait - IT IS NOT BOOTLOOPS (however it looks like)

These initial optimization process including its few reboots may take even an hour, usually half, depending how many system applications are (as we have discussed previously it is a good idea to move frequently used apps into system partition to use vast amount of free space there)

So, it goes like, consequently:
- you restore "backup" via TWRP and do wipe caches just after it in TWRP yet
- boot, it looks like "stuck", when optmizing multitude system apps, displaying the progress message on white background message, about 15 min
- at last LAUNCHER seems started, and... BOOTLOOP!
NO, THIS ISN'T BOOTLOOP!
While launcher started it looks it was ready, but the initial optimization was still running in background and needed REBOOTING to continue!
- so system reboots and launcher arrives much sooner this time, you want to use the phone but... OOOPS it REBOOTS!
YES, THE OPTIMIZATION IS STILL RUNNING and just needed reboot for its process
- the above cycle repeats few times (2-3), so just wait this half an hour until the system setlles :)
It's worth, afterwards it runs smooth like a butter :)

Yesterday I had to factory reset my Xperia and I tried it again from the beginning. I got a bootloop since my mobile was more than 3 hours with the gear animation. My phone was charging and after ~10 minutes I heard the sound that indicates the mobile is charging, so I guess there is something wrong with the startup. Maybe mobile started successfully but the gear animation was still there. After 3 hours I forced a reboot by pressing power + vol up.

---------- Post added at 09:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:39 AM ----------

I want to share with you all my conclusions and inquiries after trying a lot of things. I now have Concept-ify running and all seems to be working. Here are the steps I followed to get it working:

0. First you need to have installed latest sony firmware version on your Xperia M4 (stock MM) and TWCP (recovery.img from the first post, maybe other versions work but I used that). Also, insert a microSD with Concept-ify.zip from first post and kernel SkyMelon 8.zip. After doing some tests I think versions 8.1 and 9 end up failing (or maybe not ). Download from here: https://goo.gl/OTHOnb

1. Start in recovery mode, and go to WIPE to make a factory reset. This will delete all your data. Do not reboot.
2. Go to INSTALL and select Concept-ify.zip from your microSD. Install it and do not reboot.
3. Go to BACKUP and make a backup of your boot.img partition. Do not reboot.
4. Go to INSTALL and flash skymelon 8 (neither 8.1 nor 9). This will fix WiFi problem. Do not reboot.
5. Go to RESTORE and restore your boot.img backup. Do not reboot.
6. Go to WIPE and wipe dalvik cache. Reboot.
7. If your mobile keeps on gear animation for more than 30 min, force a reboot by pressing power + vol up.

I think the problem is that Concept-ify used skymelon 9, but when they went back to version 8, developers didn't adapt back the rest of components, so WiFi was not working. When installing concept-ify and later skymelon, I ended up with bootloops but restoring boot.img saved my day.

Now I have Concept-ify working with magisk. The only thing I have noticed is Amazon app is not available from Play Store, as it indicates that my device is not supported for that app version.

Best regards.

Yet to confirm but it seems you must turn on GPS from the QuickSettings icon (on tne status bar drawer), so the whole location must be switched on (including WiFi and BT based, despite there is no Google on tne system).

Then GoogleMaps works outdoors - but NOT the newest one (which probabely will refuse to ccoperate without Google services and the whole this bulky staff)

Hello Guys, take a look into this NanoDroid development thread :)

I have just installed it on my Xperia M4 Aqua, because there is always a space problem in this model, and I am happy so much to see how big progress has been made in this project recently! :)

Everything Google like works perfectly now, without this original bulky stuff!

Take care, what applications do you choose to install together with microG, bundled together within the main big package, there are many of Open-something-like apps there!
They are really interesting and useful, but probabely there are simply too many of them for space scarce XperiaAqua and you should install them very selectively.
Especially usuful I find Blocada, perfectly and robustly filters TCPIP traffic to sift off ADVERTINGS! :)

Hi, I have read the thread but I can't figure out what's nanodroid for. Could you explain it to me please?

Is there written in NanoDroid thread also one of the two Xposed modules: XposedGmsCoreUnifiedNlp or XposedUnifiedNlp is needed for network location to work?

https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=65018874

http://repo.xposed.info/module/be.r3w6.intika.xposedunifiednlp

XposedGmsCoreUnifiedNlp or XposedUnifiedNlp, both are Xposed framework modules, but just one of them needs to be installed!
XposedGmsCoreUnifiedNlp with MicroG, and XposedUnifiedNlp when there isn't MicroG in the system.
Never both together!

(But honestly just XposedGmsCoreUnifiedNlp with MicroG was the combination I tried to and made function properly)

It's obvious: NanoDroid is the light weight replacement for bulky Google stuff.

NanoDroid provides the services essentially Google does, but:
- on internal storage NanoDroid takes max 100MB instead of Google's 1GB,
- NanoDroid provides Goggle services without ANALYTICS ;)

In the big package NanoDroid-20.2a.20181122.zip from the site there are many various frequently used apps too.
It's your choice if you want them. First, run NanoDroid-setupwizard-20.2.20181122.zip to configure what will install when you run the big package.

These additional apps are good, open source, slim and lite (without analytics) replacements for frequently used stock etc. ones, as well, e.g. SlimFace (Facebook), Twiddero (Twitter), Amazing (nice featured file manager), Lighting (web browser similar to Chrome), lite calendar, Blokada (effective advertisements bloker on the TCPIP level), KeyPass (password manager) and so on
Enjoy :)

Hello,
I installed your ROM and it is pretty much awesome :D however, I cannot access Wi-fi. Every time I try to switch it on, the button turns green, but Wi-fi module stays turned off. It still says, that if I want to access some Wi-fi, I need to switch it on, despite the button is on. I tried to reinstall the ROM, even recovery, any clues how to solve this? Thank you very much :)

Something has happend to my Concept-ify.
First, system repeteadly started to freeze and then unfreeze. As if some haevy process run in the background. So by Power&+Vol rebooted it (GUI was practically inresponsible). It was for several times so.
No it runs lightly and fast but there's no Notifications, can't enter into DeveloperOptions (see: screenshots here), and also there's no Recents.
Please, help!Screenshot_2019-01-18-10-19-04.jpegScreenshot_2019-01-18-10-19-27.jpeg
