I actually started everything over by flashing a clean 434 FTF. Mine was a mess, I had played a lot with the system files. So this second try, the phone reboots properly, no triangle, no app crash but the Recovery still doesn't work and I also tried with the latest 2.2 BETA (same result). I also re-installed Root Explorer and when going from R/W to R/O, it reboots the phone, so I switched from SuperUser to SuperSU but same result.

Any suggestions?
Please read the following OP information again:

Known XZDualRecovery Issues:
[SNIP]

CWM Usage warning: Root can be lost (almost worst case), a bootloop can be experienced (worst case) or a reboot upon remounting /system to be able to write to it (most cases, relatively harmless) when using CWM and before a reboot out of recovery the 'ROM may flash recovery, fix it?' question is answered with 'yes'. This can be recovered from by opening a terminal app and typing the following commands:
Code:
su
/system/bin/stop ric
mount -o remount,rw /system
chmod 755 /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
Alternatively you can boot in to TWRP and go to the Advanced menu -> File manager and look for /system/etc/install-recovery.sh to set permissions 755 on it.

If even that is too much to handle for you, see the patch at the bottom of the OP to flash the fix. :p

TWRP Usage warning: It seems TWRP 2.5.0.0 has issues with the internal storage, which seem related to the changes made to support encrypted storage volumes... This means the internal storage sometimes shows up almost empty (just folders) and no files. Try to use CWM when that happens.
And read my answer to daniLaLaLaLaLa too...

need help, i got an error in setting permission while installing zip using CWM with my C6502..:(

now i got a bootloop.. dammit!
Please read the following OP information again:

How to report errors:
Please, before shouting out "It doesn't work!!1!" or "I lost root!" or even "My phone reboots when remounting /system RW!!" try the following:
  • Restore a .434 /system ONLY using any means you are familiar with so you can try again.
  • Root it using any means you are familiar with.
  • Install XZDualRecovery and then try to update again using TWRP. This time you can skip the FTF as it has already done it's job.
  • If it still fails something from there on: LOGS!!.
NOTE: The important ones can be found in /cache/recovery and in /tmp/XZDualRecovery, pack them up and send them to me.

Thank you :)
Also include which files you downloaded to install the update.

See my signature for a thread on how to recover from a bootloop.

Please guys, i can not really help you when i do not have the logs to examine.

--- ON A DIFFERENT NOTE ---

I have released XZDualRecovery 2.2 RELEASE, it contains some further improvements on the key-press checking, i will be updating the update packages tonight. To try now you can download lockeddualrecovery2.2-RELEASE.zip and flash this right after installing the *.flashable.253.zip

If you already have installed this update package and are unable to get in to recovery, download the file mentioned above and put it on your sdcard, create an empty file called 'boot' inside /cache/recovery and reboot to go to CWM to install it. To make it default to TWRP create a file called 'default' inside the XZDualRecovery directory (either in cache or on sdcard1) and put in the single word 'twrp' (without quotes). Then create the file 'boot' and reboot to go to TWRP and install it.

If it still does not respond to the volume keys being pressed, please read the XZDualRecovery OP bit about error reporting and move the trouble shooting in to that thread.

I have a hunch what is causing the problem though, before you try again take these steps:

Check if a folder called 'lost&found' exists in /cache using root explorer or es file explorer.

If it does not exist, take any FTF and wipe cache partition ONLY or look on my downloads page (link in signature) to download the .434 cache only FTF. Use Flashtool for that of course.

Then using Flashtool flash .434 SYSTEM only. Root it and then install XZDualRecovery (link in signature). Using TWRP (vol-down at green LED), try to flash the update again.

If that still fails, send me the logs.

Did you wipe cache while flashing the stock .253? If so checking it will be irrelevant. Then just try again but starting from .434 rooting it and installing XZDualRecovery. If you can not get in to recovery, try using any other single recovery.

Then, yes, but check if you have a folder called 'lost+found' inside /cache before you do. If not, you need to restore the cache partition from a FTF file by selecting cache under the wipe options.

Done that the nav bar is black that fine but the toggles background look more grey than black. Would it possible you to a screenshot of your phone with the status bar down and also do a disable mobile data so I can see the clear button and a bar with disable mobile data please.

May it just me or it meant like that I d not know.

Here you go :) It actually is not completely black, the quick buttons are grey-ish.
