What I was suggesting was flashing the stock init_boot.img, running the ota update then patching the newest init_boot.img and flashing it back.

The guide above basically does this in an elegant and easy way through magisk.

I did what krypt0se suggested me to do and it worked, thank you anyway !

It seems that ZTE doesn't want to give us EDL unbricking utility (like MSM Tool for BBK devices). Can't get anything except "The tool is directly downloaded under port 9008 which is not open to end users as it will result in the loss of IMEI and calibration data." from them. We need to put pressure for them to provide this tool.

I guess they are talking about persist.img, does someone know for sure? In any case, that data could be probably restored from backups. We should email them to get that tool. It would be really nice for custom rom development as well (and stock firmware is just bad).

So far, 20 hours after last charge with 2 hours SOT has used 14% battery, had a 2% decrease during idle at night. A bit better than 418, though I followed someones advice and restricted a ton of stuff, only apps I really need with notifications are banking apps and WhatsApp.

My phone doesn't tells me download error when trying to download past 50% with the system updater. I also have no 3 dots button to install manually. Should I just not bother updating?

Asian/EU, some EU phones also use 3.28 as stock. Dont know what is the actuall dofference and point of having 4.28 VS 3.28.

Well, in my case, i think the app is bugged, because i just clicked the dots that suddenly appears and disappears again (it disapears only if you dont click it fast enough) and from there the 3 dots shows me a menu to install from local storage as stated.
You just have to pay special attention to the screen, and be prepared when the download has finished, i recommend you keep the System Updater App opened so when it finish, you click it fast where the dots appear. Try it . It took me like 3 tries before i managed to click it right away.

Did you enable developer options? Most times it is hidden until you enable developer option.
