For those of you who prefer the stock ICS apps for contacts and phone. This will do until CM9 is fully working :)

Just copy to /system/app and change permissions using root explorer.

I'm currently running this on Flex's rom seems to work ok.

Notes:
  • Phone - Dialpad doesn't auto look up contacts when dialing
  • Contacts - Doesn't switch to high res HaxSync photos

I take no credit for these, thanks to paulobrien on his HTC One X rom:

[ROM] MCR - MoDaCo.one for the HTC One X S4 (Sense + Vanilla)

Update on using the stock phone and contacts app.

Both work great! Have been using for a few days now. I removed the HTC Phone and Contacts apk's from /system/app.

Only thing that is happening which I find weird is whenever my phone comes up after a reboot, the stock contacts app opens up. Haven't been able to figure out why

I have noticed that once a phone call is started, it still uses the htc phone app even though I have removed it from system/app. Is there somewhere else I need to put the apk or some modding i need to do in the build.prop? These are minor issues but I would love to have these working perfectly. I'm surprised there isnt more people commenting in here and wanting these.

So you removed HTC phone apk, but it still opens?

Correct. I removed the HTC contacts apk and the phone.apk. Below are the screen shots of what I'm getting.
