This did the trick for my both the S3's that my sons use. For anyone fretting, it does NOT wipe data. I did lose root (but expected that), which was resolved easily with CF Autoroot.

Hey Folks:
Is there any real advantage to dl'ing this? What exactly is the "security update"? I am on Tribute 2.0. I use Cheetah Mobile (CM) products - CM Security, Clean Master, CM Boost and do not have any issues.
I have not seen any OTA notices on the phone (yet).
Just wondering....

Yea I saw that but to my opinion the modem is about the same. I see no difference. I wish we could go back to the MK3 modem

I've actually been having problems with my data the last couple weeks and this seemed to have fixed it.

I have been look online for a change log but Samsung hasn't made it easy to find. Just "Changelist: 2851177"

A detailed one is usually hard to find. The one on Sprint's site says:
"-Google Security Updates
-HD Voice Icon"
That's it.

Yeah, but the new update also seemed a bit more fluid, dunno if its a placebo, but when I done stock ND8, there's always this lag when loading onto apps or transitioning between them via multiwindow. And this was on a full blown clean wiped and odin flash stock .tar,

Did the same doing NJ2 the second time knowing the first didnt wipe data, went into Philz Recovery, wiped System, Data, Cache then Odin flashed NJ2, the welcome screen never lagged, and loading into TW Home for the first time ( Help Dialogues Pop ups ) never showed any slowdowns nor skipping lags like stock ND8 has.

Even though my device is de-activated but still trying to connect to sprint towers, checked my signal status, I'm getting -80 to -90 db instead of -60 to -80, so the new NJ2 modem is better in Minnesota. Dunno about other states.
Wi-Fi seems the same except connection dropping range, haven't lost connection when connected to my note 4 hotspotting. Even tried moving away from my hotspot and it doesn't drop until it literally shows no bars in the Wi-Fi ( I have "Don't Connect to bad Wi-Fi Signal" on! )

Yes, I can confirm this works with NJ2.

Vulnerability fixes. Towel Root doesn't work anymore if you're going stock without ticking Knox.

So people who updated and lost root. Will need to do the root method that trips Knox.

Does it matter anymore? The S3 is ancient in phone years. Does anyone even have one that's still under warranty?

Okay...I odin'ed this, then dl'ed and installed Chad's deodexed rom file. Reloaded Philz. Baseband says version NJ2. Can I use KT747? Can I go to AOSP if I want?

Yes and yes. Not sure if KT747 works on the full NJ2 ROM, I didn't try. I'm using Wicked S5 with no problems though.

Flash Without Wiping Data?

"Keynote: When I restored using the tar myself, it did not remove data, so wipe beforehand as a necessary precaution."

To clarify this, what if I were to flash this with Odin over my current (stock TW, rooted) ROM? A few people in this thread seem to say that they haven't had a problem, but I'd like to verify that at the most all I will need is a backup - just in case.
