And what the dangerous to in that?

---------- Post added at 10:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:40 AM ----------

It's fine now.. I checked it now and it still good

Everything is okay with me
Thank you Barons Gracias mucho mucho mi Señor ☺
The danger of making the IMEI go to 0 is that you will not have signal and if/when you fix it you won't have 4g in most cases

Motorola aren't exactly slow with updates, they would have done it by now, the latest software for our model is 1st Jan 2017 where as other models atleast got a security update a few months later

i've created a proper project page now, use this one - https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5/development/moto-g5-official-npp25-137-15-t3733919

Could you please provide me with the efs and persist backup twrp. Lost my imei and 4g.
Or
su (press Return)
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p10 of=/sdcard/modemst1.bin bs=512 (press Return)
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p11 of=/sdcard/modemst2.bin bs=512 (press Return)

Backup files modemst1.bin and modemst2.bin will be created on the root your internal storage.

Just a question, my boy has a G5 but on UK Tesco software channel, I have been told by Motorola there are no more security patches,he's on November 2017 lol. Can I sideload the latest OTA from retail G5 ?

Sent from my Mi A1 using Tapatalk

I would just flash a UK retail firmware - you would have to flash the complete firmware including gpt & bootloader so any firmware you choose must be the same or later version (you will get a security downgrade error if the gpt is older so make sure it flashes correctly)

Hi,
I've used your method a few times in the past to update my phone and they all worked perfectly. I am now receiving an OTA notification for the latest update - NPPS25.137-93-12 - but it will not install. I have tried using the OTA files available here https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5/how-to/cedric-ota-archive-t3795275 and tried installing them using recovery, and sideload, but without success.
Do I need a full ROM to install using the fastboot process like I have used before? Or would I be better waiting for a full stock(final) Oreo ROM to become available and then flash that ROM using fastboot?
Thanks for your help.

If you are looking to update to the Oreo build that was released ( very, very stable by the way ;) )
Then you will have to flash the latest Moto G5 cedric fastboot firmware then install the Oreo OTA
follow Fedrays instructions here https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5/development/stock-upgrade-to-official-stock-oreo-8-t3823598 his guide includes latest nougat fastboot firmware and Oreo OTA ( I checked and only command you will not have to do for fastboot is wipe userdata, you do not have to do fastboot erase userdata so all your apps and everything will be kept as they are ), the OTA file should install with no problems then using ADB sideload ( I had a problem trying the sdcard way )

If you do encounter any problems then message me on fb/messenger

If I wanted to wait for the proper "full" release of Oreo, is there any way I can firmware flash the phone to NPPS25.137-93-12 (because the OTA is not working). And then hopefully when Oreo is fully released to all phones I will be able to firmware flash Oreo then. If I understand correctly, by using Fedrays method I would be putting the phone into a different upgrade path (if you know what I mean), meant for a different region.
Thanks.

Both certain regions and certain carrier bought versions won't get the OTA anyway, some carriers won't bother with it as they have some regions may not get it ( rare but it happens )

But I don't see AMZIN mentioned in different versions

I don't have any Amazon versions on here, I was helping someone helping someone else use a version on a different site

My computer is down until further notice and I now work half 6 till 5 Monday to Friday so I am sorry that I can not help further and look into this much right now but as soon as my computer is back up and running and I have time I will.

yes OTA is included ( also some other things )

Okay brilliant! I have the xt1675 and want the stock ROM! This will have ota update right?

yes it is official stock firmware, I was also able to re-lock my bootloader as well, something which others have said isn't possible right now, unfortunately Moto aren't providing updates to this model anymore so OTA update service is kind of pointless, NPP25-337.15 is the last update for this model of the G5, other models of the G5 did get a NPP25-337.33 update with a newer security patch which does work on the XT1675 model but someone from Motorola would know the system was tampered with if an update that's not available for this model was installed, that's why for the past 3 days looking for the XT1675 stock software and eventually found it

Hi, I'm trying to unlock bootloader in my Moto G5. I followed the description above. The driver is installed.

First thing, fastboot doesn't work (picture fastboot1.png)
I've found different fastboot (picture fastboot2.png). Unfortunately the command "fastboot devices" shows nothing.
    I work on AMD processor.
    What could be wrong?
    Download platform tools (contains fastboot.exe)

    Either

1 - open cmd at the fastboot.exe location
2 - manually navigate cmd to the fastboot location
3 - add the path to fastboot.exe to windows environmental values to be able to run fastboot from anywhere in cmd

Note - if doing either 1 or 2 from above then your firmware or what ever you want to flash needs to be in the same location as fastboot.exe

If doing 3 & fastboot is in Windows environmental values then the firmware or what ever you are flashing can be at any location as fastboot will run from anywhere

    Fastboot usb driver

    Restart after installing USB driver
Use original USB cable or compatible USB cable (change if you have issues)

Enable USB debugging from the developer options in settings on your device before you begin to unlock the bootloader
