after flash the ROM went into TWRP loop

Hi There,

My T-Mobile H830 with TWRP 3.2.1-0, went into TWRP loop after flash the ROM LG-H83030c.ARB01.TMO.US.COMPLETE.FLASHABLE and Magisk-v17.1.

I did format, did wipe everything except the [Micro SD card] and [USB OTG].

Reinstalled the 2 zip in odrer, again same TWRP loop.:(

What happens to my phone?
How can I boot to Android?

Much Appreciate.

The TWRP boot loop has been well described in other threads, but I don't think we're really sure why it actually happens. Regardless, in TWRP, under ADB commands, try this:

"dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/misc bs=256 count=1 conv=notrunc"
No quote marks.

For more info, check out @autoprime's post here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70474540&postcount=12
Thanks for reply.

I did that, but not luck.

Then I upgraded my TWRP to the latest 3.2.2, then reboot. Wipe data/ cache/system, reinstall the zips.

It works after reboot!

Thanks for share and support!:laugh::good:

works like a charm. came from fulmics rom and kept root and twrp.
1. back up fulmics rom in twrp
2. wipe cache/dalvik and cache
3. flash LG-H83030c.ARB01.TMO.US.COMPLETE.FLASHABLE.zip and magisk 17.1 by adding magisk as the 2nd zip and flash both at once
4.reboot to twrp recovery when flash is done
5. shut down system from twrp and restart with power button

phone will show android upgrading when powered on. so far so good, havent had any problems.

doesnt work for me, I go into a bootloop, and no option to install anything :( even the lg g5 boot image is missing. Also my machine doesn't show the device anymore as being connected, so I fear that my device has been bricked...

Rom is good all around but since i m coming from fulmics, all these wierd permanent notifications like 'wifi calling error' or 'apps are using battery' from android system are very annoying.Anyone knows how to get rid of these and make it more stock like experience.

Something very off has happened. What did you do to flash it?

If you can get back into download mode, you could try LGUP to get yourself back to a working state with a stock KDZ file.

-------------------------------------------

I cannot go back to download mode, or any mode. Device does not get picked up by my laptop at all, and the lg logo even doesn't appear anymore (when i mess up, I REALLY mess up lol) I'll try to list what I did below, but guys can we do a video as well as instructions? I do appreciate everyone's efforts, but I feel like I followed all instructions, and got bricked anyway :( You all give me life, but I bricked and probably need to get another phone, so a video would do wonders. Ok the steps are below:

1) used uppercut to go back to H830a
2) followed the instructions for dirty cow from jcadduono and it worked!
3) Got TWRP installed from the dirty cow!
4)immediately reboot and go into twrp.
5)press format data in TWRP, and reboot right back into TWRP
6)Press format data again, and then flash oreo 30c
7)Then Flash magisk
8) Try to boot into system.

Thank you again for taking the time out, and correcting me. If I can actually pull this off, I would even make a video, but this will be my last shot so I probably cannot afford it lol. You guys are awesome, and the wind beneath my feet :)

Take care

1) Do you mean you went back to 20A?

Everything else you wrote looks correct to me. What screen does the device show when it powers on? Or does it stay with just a blank screen the whole time?

What key combo are you pressing to get into download mode?

Anyone facing wifi slowdowns after upgrading to O? I did a fresh start and wiped out data. All other devices on the network seem to be getting the max speed except my G5.

Great job as usual @autoprime! Thanks for taking the time... :cowboy::cool:

Dirty flashed with twrp and rooted with magisk 17.1... No problems. Everything worked flawlessly.

Like a couple of other posters, I have noticed some unusual battery drain, but haven't played with it enough to find out what causes it.

Dont you think 7.0 is much more smoother than 8.0

I don't use it as much as I used to so I don't really notice much difference in the performance. Maybe I would if I used it all the time... It's my secondary device now. I use it as a remote control for my TV my android box and kodi, a music/podcast player at home and at work, to control smart lights and smart plugs and with Tasker to automate everyday routine tasks.

I don't get the battery drain that I felt I had in the start anymore either. With little to moderate use and battery saver on the battery usually lasts a couple of days.

I just dirty-flashed it with magisk, booted up and do 3 resets after that. Phone works fine but super slow and laggy :(
Yeah i experienced the same laggy and slow you are talking about ..so i flashed stock 7.0 20Ca and updated it to 8.0 by OTA update...and phone doesn't lag on oreo....i think there is a problem with the stock flashable zips.

Update: I thinks it's because I dirty-flashed. and the old datas made it slow. After a day of heavy using, uninstall some old apps and reset 2 more times, my phone is now run snappy again. Good rom :good:
