Tutorial on 4.2.1 Update via SP Tool and Rooting

Hi Babai,
My A116 is rooted and is now running TWRP 2.5 and JellysmartV1.2.
To install official stock rom 4.2.1, do I have to unroot my phone before I can follow your instructions on 'Tutorial on 4.2.1 Update via SP Tool and Rooting'.
Or can I directly go ahead with instruction as per the Tutorial?

No need to unroot... You can go a per the tutorial. You can select your favorite Recovery.img at the time of flashing itself.

If you want to root it again. Go for rooting process as described above.

Do not forget to press THANKS if I helped you any way!!

one change I suggest.

recovery-cwm-6.0.3.0.img should be changed to recovery.img

---------- Post added at 05:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:31 PM ----------

one change I suggest.

recovery-cwm-6.0.3.0.img should be renamed as recovery.img

That is the actual file name I suggested to download and flash through SP Tool.

Renaming recovery-cwm-6.0.3.0.img as recovery.img

REF: Suggestion by CSK213 to rename recovery-cwm-6.0.3.0.img as recovery.img

For the benefit of newbies like me, kindly bear with these questions...

Ques 1:
As I understand, those interested in rooting the mobile should copy the downloaded recovery-cwm-6.0.3.0.img to the S9201_MP_F4_B1_IN_MMX_0.16_flasher_user > S9201_MP_F4_B1_IN_MMX_0.16_flasher_user folder and select this file in place of the original recovery.img present in the folder. Whether to rename the file or not is left to individual preference. Just ensure both .img files are not selected! Correct me if I'm wrong.

Ques 2:
During the above process, should we unselect all other files and select only the .img file?

ans 1: try to load only stock ROM 1st. let your handset run once, then go for CWM and Rooting.
ans 2: read again the line no 2 and 3 in "For Rooting" and act accordingly.

the guide is made as such way that will be clear and loud to understand, so I don't think any one having any doubt..!!
by the way thanks for your interest, I will work again on the same and provide you a batter tutorial.

For this you have to disable signature check(windows 8)PC Settings-> General -> Advanced Start up(restart)-> Troubleshoot (then you have get to disable unsigned drivers check - press 7 when u get there - windows restarts)

Then you connect phone without battery (open device manager b4 that) and when u see Preload Mediatek (something like ) when phone detected in device manager and right click n update driver and search local and select folder for download usb drivers and click install anyway....:D

How to Enable USB Debugging and Developer Options on Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean

....the guide is made as such way that will be clear and loud to understand, so I don't think any one having any doubt..!!
by the way thanks for your interest, I will work again on the same and provide you a batter tutorial.

Your instructions are really clear enough...:good:
It was only my unfamiliarity with the operation and mix up with an earlier procedure that I read, which led to the confusion.

I have successfully installed STOCK ROM 4.2.1 and rooted my phone, this time without pestering anyone with umpteen phone calls :p

However, I was stumped when Titanium Backup wanted me to enable 'USB debugging...'. I simply couldn't locate it under Setting. Thanks to http://www.ninjaromeo.com/enable-usb-debugging-developer-options-jelly-bean/ I managed it. (MODS: Please remove link if I'm breaking any forum rules by pasting an external link) For quick reference, I'm pasting the method below...

How to Enable USB Debugging and Developer Options on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean:

Go to – Settings > About phone.
Then move on to Build number option
Tap on Build number repeatedly about 7 times.
This is enough.
After touching 7th time you will see a message that, “you are now a developer”.
Now the option will be placed in Settings menu. Then you can enable it in Developer Options.

Option to 'Allow Installation of Apps from Unknown Sources' can be found under Settings> Security.

Hope this will help others who find themselves in similar predicament.

I'm not really sure about the diff between stock jb 4.2.1 and stock 4.1.2 but after I installed STOCK 4.2.1 as per instructions here, I noticed the foll:
1. My EXT SD is called SDCARD0 and the INTERNAL SD is called SDCARD1. Earlier it used to be named the other way round.
2. Under Settings>Storage, the Ext SD Card is selected as Default Write Disk
3. All Apps are getting installed to the Ext SD Card and the Internal SD Card is practically unused!

So you may not have to do any swapping after all :)
