I know this is a incredibly noobish question, but I'm comming from a nexus s, and on that phone, everything is diffrent...

- I bought a new Note. - KK4. Is the KK4 a HW version? - Or can I flash this without problems?

Thanks.

Hi,
I experienced this:
I have LA1 with cwm, Modem and kernel of KL7 (cfroot wasn't available at the time) and I tried to flash cfroot kernel of LA1 plus "modem" with mobile odin...,and my Note was unable to reboot :(
I had to flash back to KK9, root it and restore a nandroid backup, so I'm again with LA1 rom with cwm while Modem and Kernel are of KL7

How can I flash both things missing from LA1?

I also feel the phone a lot smoother, I also see in cpu spy the amount of time spent at 1400Mhz has increased, but this could be only because of reinstalling all the apps and actively using the phone to set it up again.

Unrelated to this, Swype is now version 3.26.93 and it has a new key for the letter "ñ" when using Spanish keyboard that was not present before and is not present in the current open beta for other devices. It is a nice detail, but they could have placed ir right, next to the "L" in the middle row, instead of putting it in the lower row, and making the backstroke key smaller. But who am I to criticize them when they are improving localization, eh?

I can see correctly the year in the calendar, for whom was asking.

Had the MD5 mismatch problem when trying to restore from CWM recovery, then I used CWM App and it worked fine...

Same here, CWM recovery wouldn't work even if I re-generated the md5 hash with md5sum. Using the CWM App works fine. I restored my data from KL7 to LA1 and it's working great.

flash the la3 modem via CWM

flash the la1 kernel via odin

low battery consuption

I have to say , my SGN has very low battery consuption with this rom. After 14h , battery remain is 36%. I'm only using samsung battery save mode. Finaly I'm satisfied with stock battery.

I have read and searched and read and cannot find out how to root this ROM.
The info I find says you cannot root LA1. I have to root my previous ROM then use Mobile Odin to flash this ROM and that will keep root.
Problem is I had flashed this already using windows Odin assuming I could just root like I did my first stock. Now I am stuck.

Can anyone help?

Unfortunately at the moment you're going to have to install an older ROM, root it the old way, then flash LA1 with Mobile Odin with the EverRoot option.

So I got my replacement Note on Thursday and immediately installed the latest. This is what my battery usage was last night (I don't use wifi/gps/bluetooth and had data turned off). I'm quite happy with that :D

i also have this problem 3 days ago, i flashed LA1 through windows odin. what i did was, 1) i downgraded by flashing KK9 (dbitel germany) using windows odin, 2) rooted it using method 2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360, 3) purchased mobile odin from android market, 4) put LA1 on internal sd card under download folder, 5) flashed LA1 using mobile odin with ever root, 6) flashed cf-root kernel for LA1. that's it.

Of course not. MobileODIN needs root to operate. You haven't got root. You'll need ODIN to downgrade.

This is what my battery usage was last night (I don't use wifi/gps/bluetooth and had data turned off).
Which ROM has this very decent battery percentage? I like!

...purchased mobile odin from android market
You don't forcibly have to do that. If the ROM - as the last 3 ROMs did - come as separate .tar files, you can also flash them using the free CWM app and retain root. Ask for a how to, in case you're interested.

KLA1 from KKA still rooted and extremely happy with the imporvements

Good day,

EDIT: I meant I am now on XLA1, not KLA1 ;)

My first time at doing an Android upgrade and doing an apps, data\settings restore.

I had KKA, rooted.
Did a CF-Root KLA1 1st
Did a Mobile Odin upgrade to KLA1 and retained root
Had to use Mobile Odin to re-appy CSC to fix null KB issue.
Used Titanium Pro to restore data apps, data and settings only from my latest daily batch backups.
Had to uninstall Dialer one and reinstall to clear an issue with it and was off and running.

THANK YOU TO ALL the contributors on XDA who have helped in providing "how to" and the answers I needed to get this done.

Now on KLA1 I see a marked improvement on responsiveness on the GNote in several areas:
* Lock screen now comes on from sleep almost instantaneously when hitting the home button.
* Press the home button again and I am at my default home screen without any noticeable lag.
* I use Go Launcher Ex and the lag between screens is GONE!
* General hesitaion in moving about different screens and Apps is almost non-existent now.

I have yet to experience other improvements until I spend more time with this but for me the lag was most annoying and now, thankfully, seems to be behind me.

I suspect that there are others who have experienced similar lag issues with their GNotes and I just wanted to chime in on what an imporvement this ROM makes in that area.

I would hope that Samsung makes this (or newer ROM) availale as a non-wipe ROM update via KIES OTA soon to those who do not with to go through the manual ROM update process.

I see KLA3 is already out but I will stick with this for now and see what the future gives.

Again thanks to the XDA community for helping us help ourselves.

Started with Sony's Analog cell phone with the small microphone arm that flips out to answer the call way back when cell phones were simply phones.
You mean the CMD-Z1 right? I had... well, my dad had that one as well! But don't be mistaken, it was a GSM phone with a SIM-card already! 2nd Generation, so we didn't get that far yet since 1997 with only 3G mostly widely available today... lol...
