It could be done either way, but after flashing and it fails

While in recovery, use adb to pull it and then post a pastebin link to it

adb pull /tmp/recovery.log

If you do it after you boot into your old rom, copy it from /cache/recovery/last_log using a root browser and upload that so I can see it

Could you post the recovery.log? It's in /tmp/recovery.log

I think I probably know what the issue is though if it's failing

I used the update-binary from the OTA itself, but I guess that one is too fancy for my updater-script haha. It's not my script, it's the update-binary I used

Alright, my main question with this: I would like to keep TWRP so I can flash a 4.4 ROM when it comes out. Will flashing this via TWRP remove TWRP or leave it be?

It will leave it be. Recoveries, stock or anything else, are not included in this.
