Tried a few custom roms and as good as they are the camera and video quality is very poor compared to stock so my preferred choice currently is stock cos + custom kernel + magisk for android pay etc.

A guy I used to collaborate with on custom roms when I had an OP3 managed to port the OOS camera to what was then Cyanogenmod and the quality was within 95-98% of the stock camera, unfortunately he ordered a OP5 which got lost by DHL and says he won't get another one now so that sucks.

Hi,

I tried stock OOS, FreedomOS and Resurrection Remix and some kernels (elementalx and lightning). As much as i love all the settings and everything else in RR i'm feeling not happy because of the camera.
Right now i'm thinking about getting back to FreedomOS (it says safty net passed in the rom description but it's not working for me - still better because of the camera for me).
Not sure how to encrypt my phone again after decrypting it for RR -

However, as long as we don't get a fully working camera i'll stick to OOS-based ROMS. Sad, but if i have a nice camera in my device i want to use it like it's meant to be used.

Kind regards!

I'm on H2OS that came with the phone in China. I tried OOS and I found H2OS is smoother and has less issues related to battery drain other oddities.

H2OS 3.5.0
EX Kernel 1.04
Magisk 13.3 (ART optimization, Dolby Atmos, OP5 HEVC encoding, Sereo speaker mod, Unified hosts as locker, ViperFX)
TWRP 3.1.1-1

I can tell you it's SUPER smooth. I don't even use battery saver mode and I get on average 7-8 hours SOT. by this time I want to sleep and put it on the charger anyway. I don't want to use my phone that much in a day haha. Below 6 hours is preferable. I'll have about 35% still left every night with good solid use.

It feels like H2OS is more stable than OOS. especially with EX Kernel it's rock solid. Everyday performance is a charm and i never experience hick ups or other oddities. Smooth and stable performance.

I see no need to try any custom ROM.. it's perfect together. What would a customer ROM add to this already perfect package ?

I'm staying with stock on this one! This is my first phone ever I have kept stock. I have a couple reasons behind it. Firstly it's the latest version of android so I got no need to update to a newer version by putting on a custom rom and I don't have a real need for root anymore tbh.. and if I don't need root I don't see why I should root! 3rd reason is not all apps work with root like snapchat etc (i know there's work arounds but that's just extra effort) 4th reason is the most important IMO perfectly working fine incremental OTA updates meaning I don't have to download 1GB every time I want to update my rom

Can you share the H2OS 3.5.0 firmware link? I have been searching for it on the internet without success

I have tried AICP, Tipsy OS, Mokee, Lineage, Hydrogen os. I would say Stock is the best. My present setup.

Hydrogen Os 3.5.0

A few tweaks.
Enjoying every bit.

May switch if CMTE (CM theme engine) comes to lineage Is, not a fan of the present theme engine.

Rooted, because wanted to get rid of the annoying ads and have some tweaks
If y'all like stock, then I suggest you check out XXX NoLimit. It's a fully customized stock OS, it uses aroma installer which allows you to debloat as much as you want. It really is an amazing ROM. Been using it since day 1. I gave stock OS a run the first few days and wasn't too pleased with the batt life and drainage. This ROM fixed all of that while still staying on OOS.

Stock has everything I need EXCEPT for having the battery percent inside in the icon. Like how is that not an option?

I try to keep my status bar as clean as possible, so I can't have an icon and the percent next to each other, it's way too messy. And if I do just the percent it doesn't seem right.

May I ask, how is your idle drain on H2OS? What did you tweak to improve battery life? :)

I'm on H2OS too (so far unrooted), and idle drain is crazy... I even uninstalled Google Play Services (using Yalp Store to get Google Play Apps). Now Android System and Android OS kill my battery haha.
I haven't made any tweaks. Just stock H2O. Removed all Chinese bloat using root explorer. The bloat is in a different folder. Installed Google play using Google installer. Removed almost everything not needed from the system partition.

Anyone can confirm if zoom 2x and PhotoEditor, for Camera, are working on CUSTOM Roms ?
