Right on man! I am officially running 8.3 ROM with April 5th 2017 Security Patch Level! Geez.. it was not easy but I got this working!

MrMazak, I followed all your instructions on both links, so could you tell me what exactly I have on my phone? Is it rooted? Bootloader Unlocked? The phone seems to be working fine but I don't know what level of access I have. Honestly I don't even know exactly what the differences between all these terms are.

Also, do I have or not SU? One of the steps under the .bat I believe install it. How do I access it?

Thanks again!
So a sum up here.

1. Running the unlock tool unlocked the bootloader.
2. Once bootloader was unlocked that allowed twrp recovery to be installed
3. The SuperSU install with the unlock tool is "systemless" meaning it does the root in the boot.img
4. Installing a new rom (8.3 in this case) replaces boot.img
5. So to get root privileges back do the SuperSU install part from unlock tool again.

I think I am following you and if I understood you correctly I think that right now my device is un-rooted and locked again? So basically pretty much like a stock non-Prime Blu R1 HD? And that is fine, just trying to understand what exactly was left after this entire journey!

The only thing I have left to do is figure out how to remove the Google Search Bar on top of the screen.. and I am praying to God you don't tell me I will need to unlock/root the device again because that was no easy task!

Thanks!

Un-rooted yes.
But bootloader remains unlocked.

Search bar, used to be able to turn off in setting G's I thought. But I do not see it.
Will update when. I find it

Issue with banking app

Everything seems to work perfectly, except for one of the most important apps I use on a daily basis, Simple Banking. Now, this could just be an issue with their update, not the custom rom, but until I figure this out, I'll have to back off from this update. :(

-edit
Flashed the version 8.4 rom, it fixed the app compatibility issue, no issues with anything else. I flashed from 6.6 to 8.4.

The mode changer app is technically a security issue. I did have that warning a few times when using mode changer app from the XDA thread of the developer, then when I used the app downloaded from f-droid it worked with systemless root and didn't give the security warning.
I followed your instructions and it worked but I had to first remove mode charger app and reinstall. Maybe just a simple reinstall is what was needed.

Hi, How stable is this rom for daily use? I´m on v6.4 modified, twrp and rooted. Tku...
It's as stable as the modified 7.4.2 w. ads removed & debloated, if not better. Been running it for about about 3 weeks, I think, manually updated the Google Play Store & Play Services - matched the newest ones on APK mirror site, installed & reboot ... it's all good.

Just a word of caution, if you have a mSD card installed - consider removing it first (unless you set that up as "internal" storage) as it refomatted mine, somewhere along the way while I was playing with this new & modified stock Rom. I also re-flashed SU v2.79 SR3 for root access along with BusyBox - standby battery life hasn't been the greatest ... but, it is looking pretty good on standby and WiFi enabled - both Sim slots "active"

I also reflashed v6.4 rom using the SP_Flash_Tool here, it's excellent to restoring & going back to stock; along, with the dirty cow bat - TWRP installed & just flashed this newest rom again .... take a coffee break as first reboot/startup did take about 10 minutes.

Which one do you thikn is more stable for daily use, v6.4 or v8.3?

What I need to wipe on TWRP before flash the v8.3?

Other think is, I don´t like the issue of being updated manually the Google Play Store and Play Services that you comment..

I always like to run the newest & most current, thus v8.3 with the latest security updates/patches are preferred - it is stable for daily use as my backup phone - at home and abroad while traveling.

I say give it a try, since you are rooted & bootloader unlocked already - flashing this modified firmware doesn't change any of that - and, if you don't like it, just boot into Recovery (TWRP) and re-flash/roll back to v7.2 or v6.4. No Ads, no bloatware, almost pure Android 6.0. - add whatever Apps you wish or need. What do you have to risk or lose by giving this a try ... I still can't get my DD app to install or run on this, but I can live with that.

I installed Google Now Launcher and set that as default browser - optional, of course. Just like putting the latest Play Services & Play Store on it - what's installed is fine as is, you don't need to do anything if you aren't comfortable or afraid of bricking it.

See attachment #1 below - surprisingly, standby battery life is looking good with this - was at 91% with 6 days remaining, now at 88% with 5 days remaining - about 3 hours later ... standby intelligent power saving enabled / on.

@Letitride @mrmazak Do I need wipe something before flash the rom?
The usual and standard procedures for a clean (and, good & fresh) install - from TWRP, do a factory reset (that's wiping cache, dalvik cache and system ... you can optionally wipe data, not really necessary)

Do not wipe your SD (internal) partition or folder - you want to make sure the new modified 8.3 rom is there to do the install. It takes a minute or two, I usually repeat it once for good measures. Then, you proceed to install the new rom.

If you choose the unrooted modified rom, you will - like me - also flash SU v2.78 SR3 to gain root again. When finished (there should be no error messages, etc.) - exit & reboot to system. Take a break - first boot take about 10 minutes, setup your "new" device - sign into your Google account after connecting to WiFi, and it should restore your Apps. Have fun. Post your outcome & if you have any issues - I don't think you will (if you have removed the mSD card, put that back as part of the reboot/new install process ... better yet, let the App installation finished first, power down - insert mSD card & start it up again..

Shouldn't "need" to . I always suggest starting fresh with factory reset, but not needed
After I flashed the rom, the phone started ok, but later begins to reeboot several times, I could´t install the xposed framework and some aplications appears "uncompatible with this version".... I just back to v6.4 modified... :(

Tomorrow wil try a clean flash...

I did not try exposed. And there are few reports I saw about apps no longer compatable , like: a simple banking app, Dunkin donuts app, my hotel app, and some others.

But 99% of my apps do work, just not all.

Exposed seems to work fine for me, however I have had a problem with my banking app not working properly. Might try a clean install of 8.3. Everything other than my banking app seems to work fine

Could you flash this on a non-rooted phone through the local update feature on wireless update??
Thanks, Cody
Sorry, no.

MUST be bootloader unlocked, and installed with TWRP.

Do not need to be rooted though.

Will not install with stock recovery.
If you are bootloader unlocked you can "fastboot boot TWRP" to install, if you do not want to have TWRP installed.

Just saw a post , that said there is another update from Blu. 8.4 it is supposed to fix app compatibility. So this might fix the apps that we see not working.

But first need to download the update.
