This is an example of why I should have left the fota update files in this rom. Now nobody else is getting the update notice.
BLU released V8.4 with comment that it resolves app compatibility problems. So maybe the few apps that stopped working in 8.3 are fixed now. I added a link in first post to my twrp install-able V8.4
I downloaded the twrp version tomorrow, did you try it? Catch watch
I installed it , and made sure it flashed, but not much use with the rom yet

I tried to install two of the apps that I know we're flagged as not compatible with 8.3, and they work now.

Looks like you are trying to install v87. Have you tried an older version?

It looks more like he did not allow TWRP to mount /system as rw. The error message says cannot install because it is a read only system.
Yes that's possible. I got the same error with v87 but when I went back to 85 I had no issues.
MrMazak, have you experienced this kind of overnight battery drain with the phone off (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72254186&postcount=35) while on 8.3? How about 8.4?
No, I haven't. Fact first night in 8.4 seemed to hold less than 1% loss over night phone on in sleep mode
Have you removed the update app? At 8.4? In case more patches come out
Great job on doing this v8.4 for us - I can confirm that it is working, including DD perks and my banking app, Capital One is fine as well (didn't have issues on v8.3 ... just DD)
Did a dirty install - got lazy, only wiped cache & delvaik cache, then flash this TWRP-rom and SR v2.78 SR3 - added SU v2.78 SR3 and Busybox for good measures - first boot in less than 10 minutes. Just a word of caution, please pull your mSD card or it will get corrupted & display error and prompt to wipe/reformat. Otherwise, this is great ! Security level patched & updated to May 2017 - DD Perk App working again after installed, as is banking app for mine (like before)

I left the update app in for that reason. But disabled the update reboot app to force the ota to not install on its own.
If you see in the first picture I tried with v85 frist without success.
Hi, I did the same but the SuperSU-v2.78-SR3 doesn't work, I probed it with rootcheker. What can I do?
Whenever i try to flash this rom i get "updater process ended with ERROR: 7" and some other text. any help is appreciated <3

looks like you have /system set to mounted in recovery.
From twrp main screen goto mounts and un-check system
Were you on the last "modified" stock rom with SU working ? Busybox installed & working ? Maybe, you'll need to do a factory reset and wipe clean, including system & data - then clean install.
Chainfire updated SU to v2.8 and now v2.81 to "stable" but that thread is flooding with reports & posts of losing root and issues - me, yours truly being 1 of them with the Nexus 5X, was on v2.78-SR3 and ran fine, perfectly. Got the prompt to update SU on both the N5X and R1 HD via Play Store, v2.81 installed just fine & working on R1 HD with this newest "stock" rom. Not so lucky w. N5X - no root - tried v2.8 and still no can't do - rolled back to v.278 on the N5X and all is fine again. So, disabled update for SU for now until they figured it out for both.
When you flash v2.78 from TWRP, did you see any error message or failure ?
Hi, I was on v6.4 modified with SuperSu-v2.78-SR3, then I made a full wipe and flashed clean the v8.3 and after the v8.4 with SuperSu-v2.78, there wasn´t any error during the flashing process of ROM or SuperSu. After that, I used the root check and it said the phone wasn´t rooted.
