I don't remember doing a factory reset with the stock recovery but I did a factory reset with the TWRP recovery.
it should have been done automatically on first reboot after the unlock portion of the tool. unless you did not reboot and went straight into flashing twrp.

2 options that may help.

option 1
1 boot to fastboot mode
2 type "fastboot format userdata"
3 type "fastboot format cache"
4 reboot --either "fastboot reboot" if not work then long hold power button

option 2
1 boot to fastboot mode
2 type "fastboot boot stock-recovery.img"
3 if there is "trapped" command that needs to be run it should do so without input from you

Failed on option 2 > cannot load 'stock-recovery.img' : no such file or directory

My situation is: I have a working fastboot cmd command and I also have a working twrp recovery
But everything roms I flash from twrp.. >>> it always goes back to twrp recovery..

Failed on option 2 means you didn't provide fastboot with the location of stock-recovery.img try again this time provide full path to stock-recovery.img

Patched from v7.4.2 custom version to v8.4, phone working smoothly so far.

The only problem I found is the "gmail having trouble with google play services. Please try again" error.
Tried removing google play services update, fixed the problem, but as soon as I updated in google play store. It's broken again. Still in the process of looking for solution...

edit: after some diagnostic, apparently updating google play services to the latest version 11.0.55 give that error for some reason.

@mrmazak Hi, thanks for all the developmento for the R1. Today I flashed the v21 Modified of this thread but still have some Amazon apps. There is a way to delete them? TKU.

My R1 HD is currently on v7.4.2 (rooted and bootloader unlocked and I removed all the ads and all the crapware. What do I gain by updating to v8.4? Whats different from v7.4.2 and v8.4? Part of me says "its not broken as far as I know, so don't try to fix it" and the other part says just backup, read, then read some more then update. :)

Will the Modified 8.4 give me Band 12 like the OTA update? I get error7 in with the OTA update, and would install this ROM if it will give access to Band 12 and Volte for T-Mobile. Our T-Mobile towers are transmitting only at 700 mhz in South Dakota at this time...need band 12 to stop roaming on ATT towers

Cool, I was debating about the V21 too
Awesome, used V21 on the Prime phone, worked slick.
Wish there was a way to make the speakerphone louder, the MKT Eng App doesn't seem to make any difference, even set at 255 and 160 for the normal and the loudspeaker. Wondering if I just need to accept the fact that the phone simply isn't going to get loud enough for my parents to use as a speaker phone :(

Lost root - dirty cow fails

In May I rooted my (new) BLU R1 HD with dirty cow. Then I installed mrmazak's v8.3 ROM and was able to root it with dirty cow.

Today I flashed mrmazak's modified v8.4 ROM. However I am not able to root it, dirty cow fails at step 2 with "new_frp_md5 does not match".

UPDATE: Decided to skip step 2 and was able to complete the remaining steps.
Phone has root again :good:

You only need to do the dirty cow and unlock part once. Then if you change ROMs you can use the tool to install SuperSU if you want , but the first part like I said is only done the one time.

That explains it, thanks.
I am on rooted with twrp installed. If i get it correctly, all i need to do is download the zip file in first post (v3.4) and install it using twrp and i am done? Do i need to do any other steps.

I see v21 is non prime version. But can someone let me know the big difference between prime and non prime as v3.4 has already the ads stripped.

Help greatly appreciated as i wanted to use this phone as daily driver without root.
