hi dr.ketan
i have try to root may SGN. (Android version 2.3.6, Baseband version: N7000DXKL2, Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-N7000DXLA1-CL886914, Build number: GINGERBREAD.DXLA1)
and CSC:N7000OLBKL2
so this kernel goes to Non Rootable :)

Install Newer firmware KL7/KL8/LA1/LA3
Note : Wipe version will wipe off apps, data n settings, so make backup before flashing such wipe version
As New ROMs are not direct rootable, you cant root it direct method like Zergrush exploit or CF-Root, If you want such new ROMs Rooted, You shud have currant Older ROM installed, If you are not rooted and flashed Newer ROM, first downgrade to older ROM as above said.then you may update n Root it with one of following two methods.

so where i can get old rom compatible with this SGN. or i have to flash same rom using Odin PC version.
please help me to find solution
THANKS

yes.. but first you need to downgrade to an older ROM (any rootable ROM from the list). root your phone and upgrade back to LC1 keeping root as explained by doc ketan.

bro.. the old ROMs are all shown in the first post under heading older ROMS (directly rootable). just install one of these rootable ROMs. then you can upgrade back to latest LC1 open Germany keeping root using CWM or mobile odin pro.

Both of you need to downgrade first
Just find a link on my signature to downgrade (1 above the last on signature)
and Flash that ROM with PC Odin
After that you will have Rooted + Older ROM, no need to root it. After that,
Just get CWM or Mobile odin to update latest ROM.
You can download complete guide from last link too.

Thanks! But I do loose all my data when I downgrade, do I...?

Thanks for making this easy for us. I am on the nordic XXLC1 version, an i am downloading both current at old version right now. over 1 gb ! :) so, what happenend to the easy cf-root? Is it only because of this yellow triangle. we dont want that? couldt we just flash another bootloader, to get rid of that? It wont never go away?

Thanks friend.

Edit: My download stopped and finished at 240 mb :( now i have to wait 30 mins to start again, and 30 mins to start downloading the rootable firmware. This is going to take all day :) unlike my Galaxy Nexus it took 30 seconds :)

first do this
-Download this
-Extract
-Run already rooted
-connect device(unknown source on, Debuging on)
-Run script

-Now Download this ROM
N7000XXLC1 2.3.6 2012 March N7000OXALC1 Open Germany

-Extract n keep in firmware folder of Ext Card
-Open CWM
-Select flash stock ROM
-select to 'keep CF root' when asked
Done

If any error report back
Successfully updated to german LC1 using this method. :)

You can add to first post that this FW is non wipe:
N7000XXLC1---------2.3.6-------2012 March----------N7000OXALC1----------Open Germany-----------------------------

Dr. Ketan,

Hey man, got an issue with my Galaxy Note (purchased while I was in India). Been having problems with custom roms and kernals, so I want to go back to original stock rom. I am kind of lost on what to download or what steps to take to go from custom rom back to stock rom, if you could provide some guidance that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Madhu

Edit : Was able to get cwm working again. Thanks.

You can add to first post that this FW is non wipe:
N7000XXLC1---------2.3.6-------2012 March----------N7000OXALC1----------Open Germany-----------------------------
That would be really helpful to others Doc.

I spent 30 minutes reading thru all the posts that I've missed in the past couple weeks to make sure this version is non-wipe;)

Please help me....

I upgraded to LC3 open Germany firmware successfully keeping the root.

Then I tried to flash to the newest kernel LC3 downloaded directly from Doc's thread "how to root".

Used CMW to flash the kernel, device rebooted, and now looks like the screen won't come up.

The only thing I see is the white "Samsung Galaxy Note N7000" screen, and then the screen goes black. I thought the device won't boot, but looks like it booted into the OS, it's just the screen won't work. Because when I connect the phone to my computer, the computer still shows the device being connected, which won't happen if the device is off.

Now I assume the only option is to flash the device back to any previous stock ROM using Odin on my computer?

btw, i can't enter other mode using power+vol up or power+vol down either, the screen also goes black after the "Samsung Galaxy Note" screen...

Lucky I did a nandroid backup when i was running LB2 stably...
