You only need this ONE file!
Flash with mobile Odin the tar and the CF root thats it!

Looks like after all, using windows odin and a tar on rom, the custom binary download still in "no", so, no problem at all.

Good you got it!

just to make it easy for folks (Thanks to tsar3000 and Dev Johnan)

Firmware Update Guide:

Option 1:

1. Download Check Fus downloader 2.1 from Here
2. Open it and in standard Window select Android, GT-N7000 and region
3. click "check firmware"
4. see in "Result" if that's the firmware you want, click download and save
5. once downloaded click "advance" on check fus downloader and browse to location of file (normally it automatically decrypts it) and click "Decrypt firmware"
5. The decrypted file (XXXXXXXXXXXXXX.tar) will be save in same location >Open Odin and click PDA to browse to (tar) file
6. Select pit Q1_20110914_16GB.pit file in "Pit"
7. Check Re-Partition, Auto Reboot, and F. Reset Time in Odin
8. Recovery Mode- Put phone into Download Mode: press Volume Down + Home
+ Power, then press Volume Up.
- Connect USB cable to phone and make sure the program detect it.
9. Click Strat button and wait till the program finishes the process.
10.
- After the phone restarted disconnect USB cable.
you should have it flashed (be patient it takes some time on 1st loading). If you get Samsung Logo loop (or stuck) Reset phone from recovery and restart above process

Option 2 (if you downloaded 3 file)

- Run Samsung N7000 Galaxy Note Downloader (Odin3 v 1.85) .
- Check these options: Re-Partition, Auto Reboot, and F. Reset Time.
- Now you have to select Pit file and Firmware files too like this:

PIT: Q1_20110914_16GB.pit
PDA: CODE_N7000xxxxx_CL627135_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5
PHONE: MODEM_N7000xxxxx_REV_05_CL1067428.tar.md5
CSC: GT-N7000-MULTI-CSC-Oxxxxx.tar.md5

- Put phone into Download Mode: press Volume Down + Home + Power, then press Volume Up.
- Connect USB cable to phone and make sure the program detect it.
- Click Strat button and wait till the program finishes the process.
- After the phone restarted disconnect USB cable.
- If stuck in Boot animation (samsung logo) Do Full Reset by Code: *2767*3855# and repeat above process

I guess you did a hard/ factory reset at the end, that will delete your apps, if you dont have any problems after installing 2.3.6 no need to reset. if stuck in boot animation, reset from recovery and then re-flash helps

All my apps are deleted ... restore with CWM save my life.

A no wipe 2.3.6 please

Still Loling @where the ****... :D
Anyway, by trying to operate Odin by using my intelligence only instead of FAQ's I just looked at an error message and almost freaked out. It's well known that freaking out comes naturally and for free when flashing and getting errors occurs at the same time. So I read your quick FAQ above, tried again and while staring at a moving progressbar, I got some questions to the above quoted:
When downloading a multi-part ROM, which consists of several packages like one for modem, one for pda, one for csc etc then you flash each part by selecting it in the appropriate section inside Odin.
But, when having downloaded a single-package which is named *.tar or *.tar.md5 then you just browse for the file in the PDA section. While it (most likely) contains all the images mentioned above, Odin will split up the file itself and write the images to the corresponding partitions on the phone. Correct? So a *.tar.md5 isn't worth "less" than the other packages together but just a different form of presentation. Did I get this somewhat correct? Still learning, HTC is just so much different (and rather straight forward?) regarding that stuff...
