I made it into the beta testing but after further reading realizing it would remove root I decided not to download. I get the pop up every hour now telling me to update. Is there any way to stop this from happening?

Dont know that this really requires a new thread but you need to freeze the updater service.

Com.motorola.blur.updater

Will that work if it's already downloaded, but not installed. I'm worried that if I reboot my phone now, it still auto install

Not really the best solution but install the webtop hack lol. I have the webtop hack installed and I haven't gotten a single notice after being accepted into the beta program. Also if I go to software update in the system settings I get an error so it seems webtop hack blocks this crap.

The webtop is a seperate addon hack that Ken added into the gingerblur script as an addon for Beta 7.7 (which is what I'm on). To me it's worth having this hack anyways as it saves you the cost of the laptop dock or the multimedia dock and it has prevented me from even being able to be told that there is an OTA for my device.

I'm pretty sure I installed it but its still giving me the same error. Someone told me to download but install, reboot into recovery mode, press the four corners of the exclamation point and press reboot instead of apply sd:cardupdate but that didn't work for me as I am still getting the pop up

Couldn't you just install the update and then flash the retail SBF afterwards getting rid of the OTA and the alerts both at the same time?

I guess I could try that, it would be a lot of work getting everything set up back to how it is now though. I wonder if anyone will come up with a fix for this?

Lol true, wish I would have waited till I saw the reviews and realized the update was nothing big. I'll keep searching for a little bit before I SBF
I hear ya I was waiting on the install till I found out what it included. I found out and realized no thanks and then realized my phone won't let me get to it anyways haha so it all worked out well for me. Good luck!
