If you install the webtop hack it causes the install to fail. So if you do the mod the proceed with the install it'll fail then you simply reboot and it wont pop up again then if you do decide you want the update remove webtop mod the go to settings>about phone>system update and you'll get it back

Yeah the installation failed but then I'm confused on how to reboot? I pressed the power button and then pressed reboot and it seemed like it was going to work but then an hour later it showed the popup again but this time instead of showing the install popup, it showed the download popup once again so I don't know what I'm doing wrong

When you're at the screen with the"! " and the android click the option that says retry update or something alone those lines when it fails verification then select reboot. All of this is being done from the recovery screen.

@t0dbld I can still install my update if I wanted you think you could use it in an attempt to get keys off of it or at least a hint on getting to the bootloader? If so and if you have the patients walk me through how to snag the update

you need to freeze the updater service.
Where do I find the updater m? I looked for .com.Motorola.blurupdate or whatever and couldn't find it in titanium backup. I've tried multiple times to just press reboot at the recovery screen because it gives me errors saying I can't install the update. Can someone please help I just want my phone how it was before this update:(

What error did it say when you tried to reboot in recovery? It shouldn't be having an error if the error is that it just sits there saying rebooting what I do is just tap ok till it reboot (causing the little dots to appear then it reboot)

Is there any way that you can pull the update file from cache and upload it here?

Thanks!

yeah I'm looking for this as well...

Is it updater 2.2.1? Or is that for something else? I tried doing a search on it to no avail. Is this only effecting beta testers atm or everyone eventually?

So far I haven't gotten any popular *fingers crossed* since I rebooted from recovery. Last time I pressed check for updates just out of curiousity and it gave me the spinning circle for a minute so I figured all was good but about an hour later I ended up getting the pop up. That hasn't happened so far but well see how it goes. As far as that com.Motorola update thing I still can't find it through TiBU

Not really the best solution but install the webtop hack lol. I have the webtop hack installed and I haven't gotten a single notice after being accepted into the beta program. Also if I go to software update in the system settings I get an error so it seems webtop hack blocks this crap.
I'm pretty sure that after you gave Motorola the serial number of your phone, they can see what software you have loaded on the phone. Probably in some limited capacity. My guess is that they intentionally do not send the update to you if they know it will damage the phone.

I froze FOTA and then checked for updates. it searched and hung for a long time. Rebooted because when i went back it was still searching.
Freeze FOTA and you wont get the update.

if you downloaded it and son't want to install it
go to the cache folder and delete it
