black Is slightly better.

and for anyone who might have issuses with .flv files not playing on mr.cooks rom,
try out A8 player+ ARM 7 CODEC, it was the only one that worked for me

Does anyone have any experience with Omnirom on this phone? I'm really wanting to move on to KitKat, but Entropy doesn't seem to be ready to give this phone CM11 yet.

I haven't used omnirom yet but i tried renderbroken's kitkat ROM (sabermod,i think) and it was great. The battery bug was the only deal breaker for me but i do believe that's fixed now.
You will need to use the latest cwm (6.0.4.4+) recovery. There's one in the op but you can't download it from the tapatalk app. You have to use a computer or desktop mode. I have it in dropbox if you need it

is MHL supported with any of these custom roms ( mr.cooks preferred). I dont have a MHL adaptor to test this with. I know this phone is supposed to support it, and I want to buy the cable/dongle but wanted to know if it worked or not first.
thanks

Thanks for the link but unfortunately it does not apply with me. Mine is also the StraighTalk (tracfone) version, how do you unlock yours?
never had to "unlock" my sim, ive never even turned it on without it. I would say your best option if you cant use that link, is call your provider. which I assume is straight Talk, and your phone is a t-mobile? am I correct?

I love this phone so much I talked my father in law into buying one, now just waiting cor the seller.

once it gets here, root, cwm, mr.cooks rom, then a call to straight talk to switch it over... ( any issuses with that order, experienced people? )

If you're going to install cooked 2.2 you can skip the root step. Just Odin in cwm and flash cooked. It's already rooted with busybox, super user, and AJK.

Edit: actually after you Odin in cwm you need to flash the philz cwm 6.0.2.7 because it had the kernel option you need for AJK. THEN, flash cooked ROM.

Yes, I want the phone to be able to use any sim. I flashed to the latest stable cynogen 10.1.3 and the latest modem firmware I777UCMD8_modem. It asks for a unlock code. Do I need to flash a different rom and modem, or what?
What you're trying to do is currently illegal in the US, but if you really are set on doing it, there are posts earlier in the thread that have information on successfully unlocking this phone. I've been with this thread since the very beginning, so I'm at least 95% sure. Just got to do a bit of searching. I don't think anybody right now is just going to come out and tell you how (I'm fairly sure XDA's policy is nothing overtly illegal).

It is illegal only in NYC and for phones purchased this year. Neither is the case for us. I searched but It is hard to find something specific to my situation.

The law passed last October is nationwide and as far as I know, the bill currently being put through Congress with a push from the White House hasn't been passed by either the House or Senate.

I have no problem letting anyone know how to unlock their phone. In fact the information is in the OP, and has been discussed in great detail not only in this thread but many others in the s2 forums. It simply comes down to the fact that I have responded to fiody's question and been told I was wrong. It's impossible to help someone who isn't willing to help themselves. fiody just needs to read. The information is here.

I stand corrected. I'm just not sure what XDA's policy is. The US has taken down websites for less. :p
