I spoke ... to soon. As much as i hate to write this, i just incountered the same problem on this phone when i did a hot reboot. The phone was stuck in a bootloop at the google animation screen, i had to hold power button, then it loaded to a frozen lock screen, took 20 seconds this time to be able to unlock the phone and when i did i was not shocked by my wallpaper gone and replaced with a black screen... had to reboot again for evrrything to load normal, the only diffrence this time was when it loaded back up my battery was the same level as before the reboot.. so now we know for a fact its not my phones! Its something in this rom, any ideas on what the problem is and how to fix?

Yes. Hotboot is not supported by the kernel on that ROM. Don't do it. You'll get a bootloop every time.

^^ va540area,

Kinda did a quick glance over the past few pages or so...
I don't believe the problems u r having are caused by mr-cooks rom. Imho, the problems stem from 1 or 2 things, or both. And that is with a rogue app and/or the cpu tweaks u r applying. Some of our phones can handle cpu tweaks a lot better than others. This is just how it is.
I would suggest ya run mr-cooks rom as is, with no additional tweaks to the kernel. And then maybe install ur other apps one at a time to see if that app is the problem. Then if the apps are not the cause of ur issues, it would lead me to think it is the kernel tweaks.
Just my 2 cents. Hope this helps.

I have 2 straighttalk galaxyS2 phones, i have installed this rom on both phones and have had the same issues all starting on the Third day, everything is fine.. until the 3erd day, which is crazy. I said in older post i have not tweaked anything im running as is, the hole point of me flashing cooks on both gs2's was to see if it was the other phone or something else, if this has happend to both my S.T. phones, how has nobody else wit a sgh-s595g experianced these same issues on cooks rom, you guys are the pros, im jus a user, so tell me what can cause a Rom to run perfect for 3 days and then begain to mess up? What can cause bootloops, and a frozen lock screen on startup? Help me diagnose my phones.

Also add that i ran ShoStock3 on this phone for a week with no isues at all. Also i tested the download package wit 7zip to make sure its not from a bad download. It Cleared
Thanks guys, im not ready to give up on cooks yet, hope we can fix this

Wasent feeling the lay out on ShoStock3, the screen resoulution is set to low, i like it the way it is on cooks unless their is a way to change that.
But good news is after i had the bootloop issue i gave recovery another shot and cleared caches and ever since its been running great again, that dident work on the other phone but it seems to had worked on this one, i have my cpu set on 1400 and im still gettin excellent battery life! Check this screen shot out!

Still cant believe nobody on this forum has any idea what was goin on though, the most help i got was from Razen and its much appreciated for all his efforts.

Well I've suggested twice for you to download bbs and gsam battery monitor because the issues you're describing are caused by an app, not the ROM OR your tweaking something in stweaks that you shouldn't. Those apps will tell you much much more than the stock battery app you're posting screenshots of but i don't hear you saying anything about them so i can only assume you're not using them.

Cooked is tried and true. That's why it was suggested. The AJK kernel that was made specifically for cooked ROM is so incredibly good it is legendary among users of this phone. (God i miss AJ)

Again, as mr-cook and others have suggested, the problems you're having have got to be something you're doing on your end. If it were the ROM or the kernel everyone would be reporting the same things you are. We are more than willing to help you but there's nothing more we can do with the information you're giving us. Bring some more information and you will get better help. There's only so much we can do without physically being there. Hope this helps.

I did download thos apps, i even downloaded a cpu spy app, i jus took screen shots off the stock battery because it shows the most info in one pic. Now if i did something wrong on my end i have no idea what it could be, i followed the instructions given and everything is working at one time or another, and as you can see im getting great battery on cooks, beyond good! And i havent had anymore issues since the last one so maybe it worked itself out or clearing the caches did, but im realizing theirs only so many things you can do wrong installing a rom now that i actually know how to, i have done multiple searches on these issues and they all point to a build.prob. error, to advanced for me rite now but im happy with it on this phone, ill haft to flash something else on the other gs2 though, any suggestions for a kitkat rom thats not ported for this phone?

And Whats some diffrences/ advantages between this version of cooks and his newest release?

another issue I'm having is it takes a very long time for the phone to boot after a shutdown/restart, anywhere from 1-2 minutes! any reason for this or way to make it load faster like flashing a FastBoot or something? all my issues haft to do with powering on the phone, other then that it runs great.

Razen, remember back when I updated CWM through CWM, I had a older version with out kernel options, think that could had done this?

No fix.. yet, i thought i was the only one. If i was you and since you dont know anything about this really and you need your phone working im sure, hopefully your dude did a backup before installing this, if you dont mind reverting back to stock, then power off your phone then hold both vol up&down keys untill your in cwm, do a factory reset, clear cache, clear delvik, go to (backup/restore) and select what ever is their (if anything) and your phone will be the same before the flash, if he dident do a backup then your either going to haft to wait for these guys to figure this out or your giing to need to flash anither rom, i had no problems at all running ShoStock3, i would actualy recommend you to use that, only reason i want to stay on cooks rom is because i like the layout, camera, speed, and icons. if you need help with installing it i can walk you through orrr, like i said, you can wait along with me for a fix.

ughh I really don't want to mess with anything, I did the power buttons like you said and see the backup & restore but when I click it their is a bunch of other options and I clicked the (restore) and nothing was their... is that bad ? :/ oh.em.ge!! I wish I never had him do this! he told me it would make my phone faster and better camera + battery life, but instead I can't even use the phone! it will restart randomly, like its good for a little while but eventually it shuts down and turns into a broken record at the google play screen... why do I have a feeling I'm going to haft to buy a new phone :'( im about to cry

We are in the same boat, either your boyfriend dont kno how to flash roms either.. or theirs a bug in this rom, but im not an expert im here for answers jus lik you, the only thing that seems to help for a little bit is going in cwm and clearing all your caches.. its only a temporarily fix tho, make sure to go to advanced options and clear delvik cache too.

No.
First try rebooting your computer. If that does not work you need to reinstall Samsung drivers.

As for the ROM.... I didn't want to do this but download this a and put it on your SD card
https://www.dropbox.com/s/2ls2vy3hgsd24bq/AJK_v4.9_NoSwap.zip

Do this exactly:

1. wipe cache and dalvik
2. Flash the file you downloaded
3. Go to advanced >reboot recovery
4. After recovery reboots, go to kernel specific options and reset ex stweaks profiles
5. Go to advanced and select fix permissions.
6. When it's done, reboot system and just leave stweaks alone for a few days. INCLUDING, leave max normal frequency alone. Just leave everything on default settings so we can at least rule out any kernel tweaks.
