I havent tried it yet, was waiting to hear your experience.

I am wondering if we should also be building the Platform and flashing that with the kernel.

In Entropy's kernel here, http://d-h.st/UWm , there is a file called factoryfs.img, I believe this is just a backup of the file system from a i777? How can roxanne make one of those of our stock file system? I think that is what we need but she would need root in order to do that.

I checked out the Nexus 4 that Entropy mentioned. The hardware is quite impressive, but it has a few major disadvantages:

The battery cannot be changed. Once it reaches the end of it's useful life, the phone reaches the end of it's useful life as well.

The back of the phone is made out of gorilla glass which is great glass, the only problem is that the glass on the back part of the phone is very easy to crack should you accidentally drop it even only few feet.

You are stuck with 8gb or 16gb of space. You cannot add an sd card to this phone should you wish to have more space.

Many users complain about the color on the screen appearing to the washed out.

Other than those things, the hardware is awesome. 1.7ghz quad core snap dragon and 2 gb of ram.

Actually, Roxanne as an unmodified Straight Talk SG2. Once she obtains the information from the phone that Entropy requested, she should be able to get a dump of the rom that will allow all of us to return our phones to stock as well as providing us something to work with toward modding the phone.

Batteries are good for thousands of charges and even if you do a full charge and discharge you still have 600 of those charges. Highly doubt you will run the battery out before the phone is super dated

One of the people who has flashed a custom kernel but NOT modified /system in any way needs to back up the system partition... need that PIT in order to determine which one to back up. (I've got a guess, but PIT first...)

Then someone who has NOT flashed a custom kernel needs to flash a prerooted system image (made by hacking the backup) and back up the stock kernel.

I just tried the new Jelly Bean 4.1.2 leak linked below and it works. I didnt flash the modem stuff, just the CODE and CSC stuff.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1994313

One thing I have noticed, the Back and Search buttons on the bottom of the phone are no longer functional with this leak but the Home button acts as both Home and Back. I believe this is caused by the i9100 not having those buttons.

Why are you flashing an i9100 ROM on this phone?

Now try making a call with it and see how that goes. It is not of use to us that use the device as a phone.

Ive asked Tracfone to provide me with the stock firmware. I see no reason why they should not.
They won't. In fact, I was threatened with having my account terminated when I mentioned in passing that I was talking with people in the aftermarket community in a support request.

I don't think that any of the people that have not modified this phone yet will know how to work with Heimdall well enough to get a dump. If nobody has done it by Dec 1st I will buy another one of these phones to pull the stock rom from it.

Did you get the extended warranty when you bought your first one? Drop it in a bucket of water.

@IndigoAK They cant terminate what I dont have.
That doesn't change the fact that it's highly unlikely they will give you the stock software to their phone. They are openly against the customization of their devices. This is the same company that blocks this phone from working with Kies to minimize the chances that somebody will customize it, regardless of the fact that this makes it harder for the average user to manage media on the device. If we want the stock software for this device, somebody is going to have to do it the hard way.

In my opinion, we should leave them out of it completely just to prove a point: that if they won't support their device, the community will do it for them.
