I have the stock ROM in a CWM flashable zip built, and tested. But I don't have any way to host it yet, and don't know if I'll have time to figure it out tonite but its coming. It's the stock kernel, and file system (forgot to take su and busybox out of the file system, but this isnt rooted you can delete them if it bothers you). I did NOT touch recovery or modem.

CWM flashable STOCK ROM

Can you guys test this out before I put it in the op- http://db.tt/yKr7i2lc

Make a backup.
Factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, flash.
Any bugs after reboot. Factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik. I had to do this once, but I think I forgot to do it first. Let me know what you think.

EDIT: I did not touch recovery so you won't lose CWM by flashing this.

What issue were you having with data? I had no problems with anything. This is completely unmodified stock, everything should work like it did when you got the phone out of the box. (Except having CWM recovery).

Ok. You had me worried.

Are you using a BYOP sim card?

I am brand new to this rooting thing.. I am wanting to modify my phone, root I guess, so I can have a newer UI, or OS, than the factory installed older Android.. will doing what this thread tells me to deliver the results I am hoping for? If so, can anyone noob-proof this for me and explain, to someone who has never done this before, how to do what this thread says in a step-by-step manner? It has me extremely confused..:(

I understand your confusion when trying to learn how to do this. I would caution you to not to try anything you are not comfortable with. What i did to learn is to Google terms and software i did not understand to get some basic understanding of what was meant or what a particular software did. i was confused by a lot of stuff at first but once you get a general understanding it dose get easier. As far as step by step the first post in this thread is very well done and about as step by step as you can get without actualy saying Step 1: Download - CWM RECOVERY v6.0.2.7 (ODIN flash) Thanks to r00t4rd3d- http://d-h.st/Id6
Step 2: ect, ect.
just out of curiosity why do you want a newer UI or OS.Is there something you want to do with your device in particular or is it only for cosmetic purposes.

if it is just for cosmetic purposes i suggest https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobint.hololauncher&hl=en

Wiped everything and flashed Shostock3 v1.8.5. The first time I tried this I did everything the way I always have, and when I rebooted I was still on CM 10. I had tried to unlock my phone a few times before I did this and I lost service/data every time. For some reason, after flashing Shostock and it staying on CM 10, I tried to unlock again and it worked. I have stayed unlock since. I flashed Shostock3 again, the same way, and it actually installed. I ran it for a few days and everything was running fine. I had already turned my phone off and back on a few times in those few days, then one time I rebooted and got a Shostock3 boot loop. I still don't really know what happened, but I restored to a backup on CM10.1-20130108 and have had no problems. I seem to get better reception on this build than Shostock3 before it freaked out and CM10.1-20130119 or CM10.1-20130123.

the newest cm10 nightly got rid of most of the bugs and as for your os's over laying on top of one another that is strange

Can't get service/data on other roms!

I've been following this thread for about 2 months now and I just wanted to thank all of you guys who have worked so hard to root this phone.:good:
I've managed to root my device but whenever i flash to another rom(CM 10 nightly or SHOstock3) I lose service/data. The only way I get service/data back is if i go back to the stock(thanks for the file mr. cook). Does anybody have any idea how i can get service/data when im running other roms like SHOstock3? Sorry for the noob question.
