I created a faulty boot.img file for partition mtd0 and flashed it. Now I'm stuck on the LG logo screen. I have a backup of the original boot image. But how do I reflash it? I can't access from adb shell obviously... Please help. My phone is an LG Optimus S LS670. I appreciate any help.

Thank you for your timely response. I've done what you said but the links appear to be invalid. I made the links below according to this: csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/ezlooks_model_list.jsp?model=LS670.

Code:
csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LS670/ASPRCQ/V10a_00/V10A_00.kdz
csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LS670/ASPRPP/V10a_00/V10A_00.kdz
Do I have something wrong here? These appear to be the only possible links. I'm also a bit skeptical of this working. I'll try anything of course. But I say that because windows doesn't seem to recognize the USB device without error. I did, however, find the source code for the LS670. You go here: lg.com/global/support/opensource/opensource.jsp and search "LGLS670". Is this for the firmware or just Froyo Launcher? I'm also wondering how, after I compile it, I convert it to the kdz filetype (or is it just a matter of changing the extension?).

Take a look on Preferences => Information about phone => version of software. What version is there? Maybe is different like P500 have (V10x).
I can't do that. The phone won't boot up at all. This is all the information I can get because it's on the back of the phone inside the battery casing: model, fcc id, meid dec, meid hex, s/n, and the fact that it was made in Korea (yay?). There is also a little thing in the corner that is labeled V00E. Maybe that's it?

Update: I checked on my brother's phone which is the same as mine.
Code:
Model: LS670
Android Version: 2.2.1
Baseband Version: LS670MV9_6040
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #2
Build Number: FRG83
SW Version: LS670ZV9

You need KDZ_FW_UPD_EN. Get the stock ROM for your model and boot it into emergency mode. from KDZ select 3gqct then emergency mode and select the patth to your .kdz file. click Launch software update and let it run its course.

I guess that you didn't read whole story... did you?

I downloaded the cab file. You have to change the extension to "kdz" and then when you launch KDZ_FW_UP, the mode has to be set to CDMA. It will successfully extract but it doesn't find my phone.

Code:
 [R&D Test Tools Log File]

22:50:02 : Launching SW update
22:50:02 : Unpacking KDZ
22:50:05 : KDZ file extraced
22:50:06 : Files were extracted.
22:50:06 : LGMobileDL Load.
22:50:06 : Port = -1
22:50:06 : Connecting to phone
22:50:06 : PHONE WAS NOT FOUND!
22:50:08 : ===FINISHED===

Well, I took it to sprint and they (luckily) gave me a new phone. Well, I bricked this one as well. Except now I have the stock recovery screen. It works if you set the mode to CDMA and DIAG. Just to let people know. Not sure if it'd work without the recovery screen or not. I never tried it ironically, haha. Thank you guys.

No luck

Currently my phone boots to either the LG splash on normal boot or black screen when going into recovery mode.

When I follow the steps from either screen this is what I get:

14:32:22 : Launching SW update
14:32:22 : Unpacking KDZ
14:32:57 : KDZ file extraced
14:33:08 : Files were extracted.
14:33:08 : LGMobileDL Load.
14:33:08 : Port = -1
14:33:08 : Connecting to phone
14:33:08 : PHONE WAS NOT FOUND!
14:33:10 : ===FINISHED===

I didn't buy it new but the local sprint store is letting me replace with a refurb for $35 so I think I'm headed in that direction unless anyone else has any suggestions. Thanks!

Try this: http://forum.androidcentral.com/lg-optimus-s-roms-hacks/52145-how-unbrick-your-phone-using-kdz.html

You probably just have a bad driver. I would uninstall all the drivers for the phone. In device manager, you'll find them in three sections: adb interface, usb, and modem. Then reinstall them from LG mobile update without your phone plugged in. Hope all goes well. :)

If it doesn't go well, go to sprint and tell them it messed up when you were accepting an OTA update. Or just pay $35...

help for you

Hi
If you haven't solved yet your problem.
I had the same problem and i tried the same prg like they recommended you but with no luck
so here what you can do:
1. you download the update program from lg's official site, and it will flash your phone with the official firmware
or
2 you reset your phone like this:
- remove battery, put it back
- press home+volume_down+power_off and count slow until ten, its better then actually wait cuz you will let go before 10 sec believe me :))
but you loose everything on the phone memory i hope you have a backup.
