stuck on preparing system update

with a circle infinitely spinning. i have rebooted many times even to safe mode. got the most recent January update with no issues. tried with wifi lte. It's been hours and nothing

I was facing the same issue. Just switched from Wifi to cellular data and it worked. The update was just around 9 MB, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I don't know what was the issue with the Wifi though.

Pixel 3XL. Same problem. Switching off WiFi did not solve it

I tried to install it using the Pixel Update & Software Repair Tool since it's day two and it's still stuck spinning on "Preparing System Update".

But during the process it says that I have the latest update which I know it's not correct sim I'm still on the January update on my Pixel 4 XL lol.

Decided to check one more time after turning on and off the airplane mode. Hours later after not paying attention to it

It worked.

It seems setting the private dns to dns.google (or) using a vpn seems to solve the issue for some people.
