I received my phone back Friday afternoon. Definitely my original phone(same imei). I also shipped it with a naked skin on the back and with a skin on the camera lens. They reused the back cover being it still had the skins on it which were still in perfect condition. Outside frame and display are definitely new( have plastic coverings). I don't see any cosmetic blemishes, scratches, uneven gaps etc. Overall experience is pretty good and I'm happy with my phone. I give them a 8.5-9 out of 10. Only thing I'm a little I'm happy with was the turn around time.

Looks like they took your back cover and put it on to another Note 8.

That would basically be true. Since he has the same IMEI, then they would just pop off the back, remove the motherboard, place it in another LCD/frame assembly, then stick the whole thing back together. I've repaired many phones over the years, including S7 Edges and S8+, and once you defeat the adhesive around the back glass, it's pretty simple.
