Very well composed pictures Gavin, I just wish Huawei would bring down that processing. When zoomed in, some pictures can look a bit like CGI or "oil paintings" If Huawei could refine this further it would an welcome improvement to my eyes at least. The 2 Bridges hotel pic (front of building), was that from a RAW?
You're not supposed to zoom in. If I printed these and framed them , you would not be able to zoom in. I have specifically adjusted some of them not to be zoomed in, ie, view as is. One is a photo that will get reframed several times, so you can zoom in. Also, if you dont wont any Huawei processing this is an option. Goto Pro mode. Toggle RAW option on in resolution settings. Now both the JPG and RAW file are free from any Huawei adjustments. Best of all worlds then :)

OK, thats good to know, Steve Litchfield tweeted about the processing a few days ago. I echo his thoughts, As for zooming in, sometimes you need to to crop. Something my Pixel 2xl is pretty good at.

You're on firmware 106 probably. Until you get the next update, you wont have the option in the video mode. Make sure youre in 1080p 30fps, then wand icon should appear on screen , bottom left.
Ok. Thank you. I tried in 1080p 30fps and there is no icon.My firmware is 9.0.0.108 (C432E10R1P16). Maybe i must wait for next update.

Most phones will exhibit an oil painting look. Iphones do it, Note 9 and S9+ do it, LG phones do it, in fact my Pixel 2xl photos looked dodgy zoomed in.
In daylight, I would suggest taking shots in 40mp as on my P20 pro they come out great without any over sharpening or over processing.

New York.
I am tossing between this and the pixel 3 xl. Always been just a point and shoot person. Any comparison or comments from the more knowledgeable would be really helpful.
I can tell you this, the Pixel 3 XL camera + software optimizations are amazing. Returning mine (can't deal with notch personally), but played around with it for a month and the results are always spot on. Upgrading from 2 generations back (S8+) though so maybe I'm missing that gap.

(Taken with a Pixel 3XL)
