So you are returning your pixel 3 xl? And getting the mate 20 pro?

Btw The photo is stunning
Yup, I've already pre-ordered the Mate 20 Pro (from Amazon UK). I'll miss how responsive the Pixel 3 XL is though. Google could've easily had the phone of the year had they just gone a different route with the hardware design.

(And thank you.)

Well for me, I am more leaning towards the Pixel 3 xl because of the software. I have used EMUI before on the P20 pro and it was only just bearable. Agree that EMUI 9.0 has changed aesthetically but there are the same niggles that are still present.

Apart from that, i think the camera is a toss up. obviously the mate 20 pro is more versatile with its wide angle and macro and the 3x zoom. Battery would also be better, but I am not sure since I got the same usage out of the pixel 2 xl and p20 pro with my usage.

You'll love the Pixel 3 XL as long as you know what you're getting (read: big notch). I have absolutely no other qualm with the phone. I also doubt that the Mate 20 Pro main rear cam can top the 3XL's.

As far as EMUI goes, I've been using Samsung's TW for 2 generations now. So can't get worse than that, right?

Yeah i have seen the Pixel 3 xl on display and am not really fussed with the notch. Yes its there and obviously it is better implemented on the mate 20 pro with face id etc. But that doesnt really bother me.

the 4gb ram with the new LMK Kernel implementation does bother me though. but hopefully that can be sorted out with software updates.

Night sight on the Pixel does look better. But i will miss the wide angle that adds more "drama" to the scene

trust me the Samsung TW experience is much much better. I have the note 9 and have no complaints with Sammy's implementation. Atleast they dont change stuff radically from basic stock android. For eg. double press power button anywhere to wake camera. EMUI changes that to volume down. So on the lock screen with music playing or on the home screen, you cant quickly activate the camera since it reduces the volume.

The memory management is also way aggressive with EMUI, with widgets not updating if you dont have the correct optimizations turned off etc.

Again not hating on the huawei, but these are the sort of niggles that get in the way on a daily basis that no reviewer tells you about

I am coming from Pixel 1 so even though certain aspects of the camera are better, I feel like the whole user experience with camera is easier for me with Pixel (I'm more point and shoot kind), also been trying to take pictures of my cat and while with Pixel even if he slightly moves it still looks decent, with Mate 20 Pro the pics don't look that great at all. Other than that great phone but I think I might give it back and just go for Pixel 3 XL.

Am so impressed with this phone sold my note 9 for this and I do not regret it

The camera is amazing I am a massive photographer and whilst I have an really expensive full frame camera and decent lens the mate 20 Pro is great for when I'm out and about

Look at the quality of this .. not really tested the phone yet to its full extent but I will be this weekend

Does anyone know what it's like for fireworks ?? What's best setting ??
