You're not alone in this complaint, I turned on gesture to avoid the button combo but at times it will interfere with swipe back command. just need to get used to it I suppose but definitely not ideal.

I personally use an app called Tap Tap, allows you to "tap" on back of the phone to get a screenshot.
Can change sensitivity to your preferences.
Great app and eliminates using the power / volume key

For me the miracle starts working as i realised that the palm gesture hasn't start from the edge. It works even when you start almost at middle of the screen.
