Stylus?

I use my stylus for Sketchbook Mobile. As for note-taking apps, I came across Palm's Grafiti app, but it didn't perform well on my G1. I haven't tried it on my NC yet. It installs like a keyboard and can then be used in any notetaking app.

Sent from my NookColor via the XDA app.
I was playing with the Graffiti app and using it in GTalk. It makes your tablet look like a gigantic Palm. I can use my finger but I'm certain I'd be much faster with a stylus. I used to be able to write at 30-35WPM using graffiti back on my IIIxe.

Hi, it seems that the screen on the NC isn't really built for taking handwritten notes, which is a shame because a tablet that size is almost perfect for note taking.
Or it could be due to lack of good apps.
One of the best note taking apps for the Windows Mobile platform was apMemo, almost like pen to paper. Apparently, there is an Android version out now. Just wondering whether anyone has tried that?

apMemo works great with my finger. I'm also interested in the how stylus works with this app.

I tried making my own stylus out of a strip cut from an anti static bag, retractable ball point pen and scotch tape from a video on youtube. It sort of worked but it's kind of hard to write while not getting your hand in contact with the screen as well.

Bought this stylus last week, it arrived today:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HBK4T0
DON'T BUY IT...it's terrible. Going to give it to my dad who's got an iPad and see if it works any better for him.

I wish there was a way to combine the powers of a resistive touchscreen and a capacitive. Using your fingers is great most times, but other times I want to draw with precision. Even with a not-terrible stylus, I can't imagine it'd be easy to do with these huge tip capacitive styli.

I also bought this same stylus, and you must press pretty hard, and it skips a lot. It's slightly better on the HTC Desire and iPhone screens, but still not as usable as I'd hoped.

About the same as your finger, except you can write slightly smaller. So far, genial writing is the best note taking app i've tried. Once you get the timer set to go to the next line, you can write as fast or faster than a notebook and you never have to change pages. No provision for adding drawings is the main downfall. The big problem really lies with the nook as it doesn't seem to have a tight sensor grid, so fine drawing and writing isn't possible. It works for straight notes and basic drawings, though.

I suppose if you need really detailed drawings, you can go into andcad, the stylus works well there. Unless somebody figures out if the screen can be made more sensitive, I think its not quite there for note taking and drawing except for simple, quick stuff, or in the case of genial writing if you just need to write out a ton of text only.

So, to summarise, for great success: Dagi 005B or possibly the 501, preferably on CM7, probably without screen protector, super-sensitive screen irrelevant?

Can screen sensitivity be better adjusted via kernel changes?

Can you recommend any apps for PDF-annotation? :)

I've seen many get the Dagi P501 or the P5B...
Which one is better for tracing the outline of images and simple writing?
I've always wanted to do that on a tablet rather than my mouse. (in gimp/photoshop)

My personal favorite is definitely multi-memo. 2 finger scrolling makes all the difference. I really hope adobe ideas from the ios family makes an appearance on android soon, its so great.

Can't seem to figure out genials "workflow"...

FWIW, I bought the following from Amazon. A pair of screen protectors with a free stylus included:

http://www.amazon.com/Anti-Glare-Sc...4KF8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1302011311&sr=8-4

The stylus barely works. OK if you want it for tapping or flipping pages in the reader app, but not suitable for drawing, sadly.

(P.S. the anti-glare screen protectors are great, BTW, though it's nearly impossible to put a screen protector on a screen this large and not get a bubble or two due to trapped microscopic grains of dirt.)

I'm just interested in getting a stylus to select items from web pages. My fingers are apparently too big to hit the right item in a list. From what I've read, just about any of the styli that have been discussed here will work for that. Am I correct in that assumption?

If that's all you use the stylus for, then any stylus will do. Styluses have problem drawing curves and continuous lines on the NC screen.

I hope when B&N release 2.2, they updated the kernel and libaries. Hopefully it will solve the stylus problem on the Nook Color. I've seen video of stylus on the Galazy Tab and it worked perfectly. It's either the old kernel or the the screen used that's causing problems for the NC.

Avoid the super-cheap two for $3.50 eBay styluses. But even the "freebie" stylus I mentioned in an above post would work for what you want.

I usually avoid the lowest and highest priced accessories for anything I buy. Now, if I could only get one of the freebies without having to buy the other stylus. ;-) If I pay postage to a US address, would someone be willing to send me one they don't want? If so, PM me.
