I actually got the pixel 7 pro thru T-Mobile and all I did was right away. Asked them. I told him I was an Android developer and I asked. Could I please unlock the phone because when T-Mobile obviously as a lot of you know you have to sim unlock first then you can bootloader unlocked. I explained to them right away. Even though I still owe about $500 on the phone then I needed it done. At first they tried to tell me I had to wait 40 days and pay off my device after I ask him nicely again the same rep she said actually if you'll pay two more device payments equal 48.50 then we can unlock the phone in 48 to 72 hours and they did and now I'm bootloader unlocked

I did something very similar and my Pixel is SIM unlocked through the month of January. At this point, I went into developer settings to enable OEM unlocking but it's greyed out with the message "Connect to the internet or contact your carrier" despite having full conectivity. I think I may need to reset/wipe the phone. I will enter a NON T-Mobile SIM card when I do reset the phone to see if this changes anything
Fully bootloader unlocked now thankfullyWorks with sprint too. Was a lot harder. Had to tell them I was going overseas. They told me no. Had to then call Tmobile(not sprint) and explain the situation. They told me to do a three way call with sprint, then first guy said no, got a supervisor after request. They filed a ticket with back end. Took 8 hours. Unlocked device. I actually am an android developer of sorts, I needed the android 14 beta and the ability to go back. Requires an unlocked bootloader. In the end ,worked fine. Unlocked and flashed to android 14 beta.
Well gotta now try this with my Verizon locked Google Pixel 4a 5G. Problem is I live overseas so I gotta call using a VOIP number.
Wrong thread for this, but
Dial - *#*#4636#*#* then "Phone Information" and turn off the NP radio under preferred network to turn off the 5G radio in a pixel.
Know a few including myself that have had to this while an area gets updated to 5G coverage to prevent dropped calls and intermittent signal loss.

10Hi guys, I'm a longtime member here and developer for Paranoid Android custom rom. While I haven't been active on XDA these days, I did want to share a bit of information about how I unlocked the bootloader on my AT&T Pixel 7 Pro. To my knowledge, carrier-branded Pixel's will not allow bootloader unlocking unless the carrier's requirements are met and a sim unlock is initiated. I had to pay off my Pixel 6 Pro to get it bootloader unlocked in the past so I assume the rules still apply. If anything has changed, feel free to correct me. I just picked up this phone today, and no it is not paid off and still on my AT&T installment plan. This thread does not and will not encourage evading paying off your device installments, while bootloader unlocking does not correlate with sim unlocking, I am not encouraging this glitch/workaround to lead to that discussion.
THIS IS NOT A GUIDE, this is just an detailed explanation on how I unlocked my bootloader.
I bought this phone with AT&T knowing the restrictions it had on unlocking the bootloader, but I wanted to take another crack at finding a workaround. My situation is a bit unique but can be comparable to others out there. I started digging through the com.google.android.apps.work.oobconfig apk. The same apk that was removed as a workaround to sim unlock the T-Mobile Pixel 6 Pro. Yes this apk exists on the AT&T variant of the Pixel 7 Pro. So I spent some hours figuring out how it works, and nothing I could get around code wise, but I got came up with an idea. The apk is heavily based on the inserted sim card.
My Pixel 6 Pro was unlocked through AT&T with that sim inserted. My phone number is now transferred to an eSIM on my iPhone 14 Pro Max, but my old physical sim card was still in my Pixel 6 Pro. Weirdly enough, it picked up the network, there was just no service but the sims ICCD was still registered to AT&T.
So just for laughs, I took my old sim card out of my Pixel 6 Pro, inserted it into my Pixel 7 Pro and did a factory reset and what do ya know, when I enabled developer settings the OEM unlock option was no longer greyed out. I thought it was probably a bug, so I booted to bootloader and used the fastboot unlock command and the phone unlocked. I still can't believe this worked, I'm not sure if it's an issue with Google's servers or AT&T's servers but I just wanted to share this information to prove that it's definitely possible. If anyone has a similar situation feel free to try it out, even with other carrier's and report back. I attached some photos of proof below. I'm also on A13 (TD1A.220804.031).4
I have worked in the 3G/LTE/5G home internet industry part time for a little over 6 years now. At&t does some real trickery things based on APN and what exact plan you have. To add to that, it is on a per tower basis most of the time.
I do a lot of work with Quectel modems and others and do a lot of band locking, tower locking and apn switching to find the best combination for the client and area they are in. But of course all of the modems are unlocked and done with at commands.2
That works kinda of.
Around here the NXTGENPHONE APN has a higher priority on the network than the enhancednetwork APN. So this does help with connection speeds but during congestion I am in the same boat sadly.
To elaborated, on enhancednetwork band 66 is the priority band in our area but on NXTGENPHONE band 30 is the priority which is the better band in my area. The best combo here is band 30 CA'd with 66.
This is only from observations for the last few years or more and talking with field techs in the area. They always give me a disclaimer that it could change at anytime.2
Are you trying to turn off 5G? Because you don't need a new APN for that. Download the app Force LTE Only (4G/5G) from the Play Store. Got through the initial setup (you can skip giving permissions, they're not needed on our phones) and then hit method 2. In preferred network type, change to LTE only (or whatever combo you want minus NR).2
I should've added, the moment I unboxed the phone I took the sim card out before booting it for the first time in case it writes to some un-wipable partition. Idk if that's confirmed to play a part in it working
