Just rooted my Galaxy Note 4.3 with Kingo and went to install Safestrap. Searched in XDA and did not pay attention to the Forum and ended up downloading and installing the APK for a Droid Razr. [SAFESTRAP v3.73 (2nd-System Bootstrap / Recovery) for XT912 Spyder] and now my Note will not boot beyond the Verizon Screen.

Recognizing how stupid I was, I need help: this is way out of my league.

How can I recover and install the correct apk? Thanks!!!

Larry
Can't you Odin back to stock and start over?

---------- Post added at 03:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:44 PM ----------

Just rooted fine with kingo 1.1.6 and windows 8.1 x64. No issues with drivers to not finding device.

I'm doing that now. After blowing the .apk, I wasn't even sure that was going to work, but time and stepping away helped....

Succeeded. Now it's back to rooting the phone again and then applying the proper Safestrao apk....

Thanks! I am quickly getting comfortable with Odin.....

quick question on Safestrap:

If I am on MJE and have a password lock, but not encrypted, can I still use Safestrap without the bootloop issues? Also, do apps such as Mint or aWallet cause issues (encrypted apps), or apps such as Smart AppLock (used to lock down things like facebook, email, pictures, etc) that are set up to prevent them from being uninstalled?

I just dont want to run into bootloops!

Nevermind! got it figured out. I just cleared my credentials to remove the password lock just in case before installing Safestrap. I suspect that Safestrap works just fine with a password, but I just wanted to be 100% sure.

Can I do factory reset on n900v_kk_firmware?

I did a successful install of n900v_kk_firmware and installed Safestrap 3.72. There appears to be some corruption with several apps, contacts, etc. not working right. I am wondering can I safely do a factory reset to start over?
If the problem is in my install of n900v_kk_firmware, how do I start over? Do I Odin MJE back and then root again and go through the upgrade process?

Thanks!

Help!

I followed the guide precisely but here is my problem: I have build N900VVRUBMJ7 and cannot find how to enable USB Debugging. The device drivers work great, my PC has recognized the device but Kingo says "Not Connected". Under security I've checked Allow installation of apps from sources other than the Play Sore and unchecked Verify Apps but cannot find USB Debugging. The instructions on Kingo Root are for Android 2.3, 4.0 and 4.2.2 but not 4.3. Could the MJ7 build have removed this? Please help. I've gone to a lot of trouble to get a phone I can root!

Settings, developer options, check USB debugging?

Option is not there! There is no developer options or USB debugging. I've checked all menus and submenus.
Have you done settings, about phone, scrolled to build or base version and tapped it 6-8 times to enable developer mode?

No, I didn't see that anywhere in the instructions. Going to try now - I hope it works. BTW, I'm getting VZW Software Upgrade Assistant wanting to install on my PC. Should I allow it?

Cool, and I never allow any Verizon crap to install on pc or phone. BTW, doing the tapping to enable developer mode is pretty common, so if you find yourself in that position again just do those steps. You'll be good to go.

Talking about NC2 - the 'leaked 4.4.2'

It appears we are talking 4.3 not 4.4? When someone develops root for 4.4 it will be a Milestone achievement:p
The leaked 4.4.2 is rootable. Problem is you can't update to the OTA 4.4.2 and go back. I was able to do this before the OTA, and other than needing to redo it multiple times because I forgot something, it wasn't hard in retrospect.

Hey buddy do you happen to know if the leaked update will install over the ota or if a root is possible on the ota yet? Thanks in advance for any input

No, NC2 will not install over the OTA (NC4).

No, a "fresh" root of NC4 has not yet been possible. An OTA update of rooted MJE with SuperSU in survival mode has worked for many...myself included, so I have a rooted OTA phone....but there is no way to update a non-rooted NC4.

please help. I'm so stuck.

These exact steps are already posted...

And you can install any ROM with Safestrap
Hello, I'm sorry for the bother but I have searched everywhere for months since towelroot came out and I haven't been able to find an answer anywhere. So, I have rooted my Verizon Note 3 SM-N900V NC4 with towelroot, installed busybox and safestrap. It will boot into safestrap just fine but when I try to install any custom rom like jellybeans or hyperdrive, it says "E: Unable to mount '/system'. It will eventually say that it was successful but when I go to reboot to says "no OS installed, are you sure you want to reboot?" Even when I try to wipe before installing, it wont wipe because it's unable to mount system. So I clicked on the "mount" box in safestrap and it will not mount system when in any rom slot. Although it will mount when I am in the stock rom slot. I did try and install jellybeans in the stock rom slot and it soft bricked my phone. I ended up having to Odin back to NC4. Also, sometimes when I reboot and to goes to the safestrap screen, it says "safestrap: Disabled" but sometimes it doesn't say disabled and it seems to be working just fine. I've tried installing a rom both ways, enabled and disabled, and in both cases, the same thing happens, Unable to mount to system. I would really appreciate any help that anyone could give me. Like I said, I've looked everywhere and tried everything that I could think of and everything that I could find that is out there but there has yet to be a solution that works for me. I could really use some help from someone smarter than me. Thank you to anyone who responds!

Thanks again,

Chris Hencz
