First of all, as far as I know Indian Motorola Repair center don't have the required tools. However I have an Idea as to where the tools are. It's probably distributed through https://compass.motorola.com/ . But only people with Motorola membership can access this. So please ask your bil if he/his boss have access to this site. If yes ask him to look for a tool called TI OMAP BOARD CONFIGURATION TOOL in the site. For any further details pm me.

this is good....and i think it will be best to not mention the location, identities,or any hint of similarities of the perosn source once you guys get contacts & manifests from that guy(source). so as not to compromise his profession.
he could be fired & worse can be sued by leaking private details.
best discuss it in private, after getting in touch w/ him...

just a tought of CAUTION...;)
That's my point. And, considering Moto's urge to destroy any tiny bit of freedom their users pursue, they'd probably sue anyone who posts in this thread, and even everyone talking about unlocking bootloaders overall. As I said, we must go stealth in this operation.

LONG POST HERE, I WON'T QUOTE BECAUSE YOU KNOW WHAT POST I'M TALKING ABOUT.
That's kind of what I think of it. Once we've got one (or a few, which I think is safer) source, we can use this as raw material to get a more elaborate plan. But, as a draft, I think it's good enough.

huh !! think about moto when they actually ditch us with promises ? whats wrong if what we are screaming for last 1 year . and didnt get any updates ? huh think about tht before u speak about illegal stuffs . if moto is doing all sought of ways to keep us away from our rights . what we do undercover to get us right can no way be questioned when we have told thousands of times that we need updates .

more over the authority can question us only and only when they are themselves self guilt free .... but instead they are pretending to be saint sitting behind the curtains and doing all sought of locking stuff to deprive us of our rights
Two mistakes don't make a right. As I said before, we're a bunch of broken guys, earning a few thousand bucks per month at most, while they are a company with enough money to hire any lawyer and buy any corrupted court in this world. They have but one reason to exist: profit. And unlocked bootloaders, along with honest customer care, are way less profitable than obsolete phones that make people buy new ones. If you want to defeat an enemy tougher than you, is easier to think what would make it to give you the victory and chase it, than directly confronting a force you know you can't beat. And, the way things are, we can't beat them. So, let's get as low as them, and take things from their own staff, it's better than trying to confront them openly.

isn't it illegal to post copyrighted stuff and also its against forum rules..

i mean that if someone gets his hand on that super tool, then how can he shares it with us???
How? In totally the same way as hundreds of new software get leaked/cracked and then shared among people every single day.

@jhonsmithx Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
It's not about getting ahead of ourselves. People need to be aware of what they may be going to sign up for before they actually sign up.
If the source will be willing to provide the software for free then it would be much easier. But if he will be all about money then there are many possible issues and serious consequences and people need to know about that up and foremost. People are enthusiastic and willing but you surely don't want to just let them get burnt.
So if I see a possible problem I say it right away instead of waiting for some imaginary "right time". There is no such a thing as "right time" because this is not organized effort despite it may seem like it was. People are acting on their own, you can't prevent that. For all we can know there may be some negotiation talks going on somewhere on the planet right now. The least we could do is to make people realize it may not be such a simple and straightforward "fun" as it may seem. I personally don't believe it will be such a big deal, but really better safe than sorry. It would be very unfortunate if someone hastily started something and the subsequent events caught him off guard. They should go this route only if they are fully aware of everything and still are willing to take the risk, otherwise they simply should stay aside.

I think I've made my point, I'll absent of the discussion for now. If you guys need some cash donated, I'll help with it, but I'm not taking part on this if there are no coordinated actions. When you guys get a target (or ask my help to find one), have a coherent set of actions to take, and find someone trustworthy to keep the money while we don't get the TI software, then we'll talk. But decentralized and uncoordinated actions will eventually lead to someone doing something stupid, and, since that might f* us all, I'm definitely not taking part on it. Feel free to PM me if you need help (I know a guy who knows some guys, and maybe can help - unfortunately, not before saturday), but I'm not involved enough to coordinate this (and, no, that wasn't my intention at all), and think we should get someone who's willing to do so, than we could proceed. See ya.

A bit of news today. After a lot of recon I have at last managed to get the phone numbers/address of Official Moto Service centres in India. They are rare but still they are there. All those addresses starts with "Motorola Services". If you have bought your defy from flipkart.com try calling up the flipkart cc and ask for info on official moto service centres (not auth service centres).

I even managed to get a couple of mobile numbers. As today is sunday, I'l call them up tomorrow. If everything goes well, we'll drop the forum discussions and switch to irc on 30th. You know the drill.
