i would advice you to update to android 4.0.4 and use the siyah or the new Galaxian kernel,
however, if you need just a basic kernel with root acces i would recomend Cf-root since Chainfire is a wizzard when it comes to galaxy's.

Also, you could check out this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1702166 : list and scroll down to gingerbread for a list of custom kernels.
read the OP and the comments for each thread to see if it is something for you!

i was on 4.0.4..but unfortunately my galaxy's screen in sleeping mode turn on for 5 to 6 times automatically.. thats y me have to downgrade to 2.3.5..

do you have any idea or something that whats this problem??

Use speedmod kernel if you want a carefree life.. plus good battery..

You may have a running app on your background. If you're on stock, you can try speedmod.
