How can I check if /data on ext4?

cat /etc/fstab says it ext3, should i change in fstab to ext4?

I formatted to ext4 before, and installed CM10 after
Same here...but when you use the mount command the terminal will show you ext4 for data & cache. I don't know why....but it seems that fstab is ignored.

Well, do you still have CWM available?
I just refomatted my data and cache back to ext3 with bottmenu>tools and restored data from nandroid backup
No wipes required

Why did you do it? Have you observed any disadvantages related to using ext4?
I must say, the switch to ext4 is proving to be very good for me. Everything is working a lot faster and smoother.

The procedure I followed to make the change:

1. Boot into Recovery and do an advanced backup of data only
2. Boot into Bootmenu and format ext4 partition under Tools
3. Go back into Recovery and advance restore data only.
4. Reboot
5. Check if /data is using ext4 by using the method shown a few posts ago

My observations were exactly the same as ktmbikerman, but decided to switch back because of problems some other users have, not only in this thread. But the main reason was I wanted to check if I can switch back as some reported total data corruption when formatting to ext3 again :D

do you mean that data.ext3.tar can be restored onto ext4 but not vice versa?

currently i am also on ext4 and feeling a better experience regarding speed, which i hope it's not just another placebo effect ... :D

Can be restored both ways, as it restores data, not file system image, but some ppl here had to start with sbf after such a trial. Something is not stable

And you are on 09/11 build, aren't you. Then do it an intelligent way - stop the app, wipe its data and try again
After data wipe,
Just change the mode from Root access to Safe mode or User prompt mode in settings.
Use prompt mode to access data/system etc.

An example for a really easy advice is how to reduce the battery drain of 2nd boot builds: it turns out that switching baseband is enough. Before 3-4%/h, after ~1%/h. Never thought that the solution would be so easy.
Would you care to elaborate on what it means to keep switching the baseband? I have also cleaned my APNs and switched forth and back between two different basebands for my region, but even on the right baseband for my provider, I'm still having the spurious data drop-outs. Which would not be so serious, if they weren't also coupled to a very high battery drain when they happen (from about 4% / hr normally to over 10% / hr)...

I would really appreciate that. TIA...

Have you tried to make or receive a phone call. Because for me when it's happening this also phone is down only reset solves the problem.Changing the baseband solves only temporarily.

no imei no. in latest nightly

can anyone confirm this?

------
after few restarts...got imei no. back
Confirmed. The same behaviour, but it's not only since 11/9. In a few previous builds it was the same. Perhaps the bug has not been improved since the beginning of CMX Defy development.

Haven't detected a voice call drop, but in all honesty I didn't test at the same time when I'm having a data drop. Next time I'll try and report.

What I did notice, tho, is that the radio goes rather crazy when this happens. For example, I tried to recover from this by switching 2G, 2G+3G, 3G and I noticed you have to touch the switch button (on the notification power control) multiple times until it takes - the same thing if you try to disable data.

Just yesterday I had an incident where it went totally nuts - I had left a wifi area and when I tried to turn off wifi it got stuck at "stopping wifi", and there was no way to either turn it off or back on, and cellular data was also stuck. I had to reboot the phone as not even airplane got it out of this state.

FYI I'm on MB525 red lens running the 1018 nightly + V4 update.
