Would you care to elaborate on what it means to keep switching the baseband? I have also cleaned my APNs and switched forth and back between two different basebands for my region, but even on the right baseband for my provider, I'm still having the spurious data drop-outs. Which would not be so serious, if they weren't also coupled to a very high battery drain when they happen (from about 4% / hr normally to over 10% / hr)...

I would really appreciate that. TIA...
It was enough to switch baseband once. Latest had 3-4%/h, switching to 2.51 resulted in 1%/h and since then I've been keeping it. But I didn't have recognizable data drops in both of them. I guess once you've found a proper baseband, just keep it, but until this you have to try. E. G. In Tunisia I had to switch to French - Orange for most stable (if you can call it stable in Africa :D) connection.

4.2 and 3.0 kernel may become a reality for us. oh the possibilities!
Yes it's possible. Quarx is building kernel 3.0.8 for MS2. Maybe it'll come to Defy as well. Android 4.2 should also come. However I read that Quarx is busy with his semester exams. So maybe Eppy can help.

One question: why are we going to kernel 3.0.8 (it's about a year and half old). Why can't we get kernel 3.6? I'm using 3.6.6 on my desktop machine.

Are Linux kernels the same as the kernels in Android? I saw from a nexus 4 screen that it was on a 3.4 kernel.

Android uses the Linux kernel. But I don't understand why they're so behind. The Nexus 4 kernel (3.4) is still months old.

He posted a log in the MS2 forums a while ago.

Great ROM! The only problem is that sometimes reboots without any reason. During a call, or installing app. I have the latest build installed, wiped cache-dalvik again after install. (Defy+)

Am I the only one?

That's because he gets help from the ms2 devs there. Quarx doesn't even have an ms2 afaik. But the devices are largely similar so once he is done the ms2 devs can easily implement it for their device too...

newer =/= better.

(android makes some changes to the mainline kernel so it cannot update as fast, also phones have lots of proprietary parts [compared to desktop/servers] w/o open source drivers, if you don't know what I'm talking about please go research/read/investigate about it. btw i'm sure whatever you're running on your pc is not the latest the companies running in their labs as well, so stop worrying about this, thx very much)

C'mon u intelligent guys.. help me.
not trying to be offensive but people here are VOLUNTEERS and our time has value as well, so if you don't spend YOUR time looking for solutions (like reading <20-page first), then WHY should we bother to help you??? in any case, please refer to the YouTube video in Quarx's dev thread and then buy an iphone. thx very much.

You give voice to my feelings. :good:

Please don't be obnoxious while asking for help. If someone knows the solution, if they have the time, and, most importantly, if they feel like it, they'll help you out.
Self help is the best help, and most, if not all problems have been previously reported and (in most cases) solved.
In my 3 years as a forum lurker and 2 months as a poster, the most important thing I've learnt is to READ, READ and use that SEARCH button.
End rant. :silly:

+1 (while still on ext3)

With every (kind of random) reboot it says "starting up apps" but without optimizing them.

To find a solution would be great if all of you who have random reboots would give also your last stock sbf flashed.

On the other hand I know a case with ca 3 random reboots per day on last builds till change of baseband - after that only one reboot in four days, but still the one

UPDATED experience and problems with CM10 0911
I have installed CM10 0211 on top of MS2Ginger, with a full data/cache/dalvik wipe.
I have since done a full wipe again when flashing 0911 and checked all issues below again.

Button backlight SOLVED
- button backlight changing finally works

ext4 - SOLVED
I have backed up data only, formatted to ext4 and restored. Works fine, no reboots.

Battery consumption - MAYBE SOLVED
I have installed the battd files from MS2Ginger, battery was very good for a day or two, but not anymore.
- battery consumption is still higher than it was under MS2Ginger (I'm using the same vsels and freqs)
- especially when using apps/screen is on

Major performance regressions
I have checked a couple of benchmarks that I also tried on MS2Ginger, and CMX is MUCH SLOWER.

Quadrant MS2Ginger: Total:1636 CPU:1419 Mem:1952 I/O:3164 2D:509 3D:1136
Quadrant CM10 0911: Total:887 CPU:1180 Mem:1361 I/O:617 2D:243 3D:1032

Linpack MS2Ginger: Single threaded 16.529 MFLOPS 5.07 s Multi threaded 14.789 MFLOPS 11.41 s
Linpack CM10 0911: Single threaded 11.841 MFLOPS 7.08 s Multi threaded 12.025 MFLOPS 14.03 s

Lots of lags
- launcher and app switching becomes laggy after some time, but better than 0211
- phone/dialer app still doesn't get cached, almost always slow to start up
- Swiftkey service seems to be running, but also very slow to appear every time

Phone and Wi-fi
- calls sometimes get disconnected abruptly, looks like the phone app is getting killed when memory is low
- wi-fi tethering does not work (Wireless Tether from Play store works)

App problems
- compass calibration does not work (never turns green), although compass seems to function ok
- proximity sensor still does not work with Viber (it did work on MS2Ginger from Viber 2.2.1)
- Chrome is very laggy, unusable
- Browser force closes a lot with big web pages (try loading http://index.hu/?teljes and zoom around, press back, etc.)

It looks like memory is not enough for a Jelly Bean system, even though Settings/Apps shows 80-120 MB free memory all the time.
