Questions on Note 2 & KingRoot

I have a AT&T Samsung Note 2 (SGH-I317). I'm wanting to root my phone & I'm a newb for sure. I've read a number of posts here and have a few questions.

1. Is KingRoot the same as Kingoroot?

2. Is it still possible to root my phone.

3. Can anyone send me some links to get me going?

I read you may just as well give your passwords to the Chinese if you choose to use KingRoot. Android PlayStore considers it malware.

SM-J120AUCCS3AQE1 ALL Root methods a fail...HELP!?

None of the methods for rooting the Samsung Galaxy Express 3 SM-J120AUCS3AQE1 work. There are several that do refer to the J120A, but do not specify the next two letters. I have had 7 of these devices and every method available through the whole of the forums, either brick the device, or do nothing at all. Can someone please post a solid method? It would be awesome to open the doors on this thing.:fingers-crossed::highfive:

G'day
Should I update from 5.0.1 stock to v6.x XDA ROM and root, or just remain on stock OS 5 and root??
I know OS 6 has the benefits of prompting for permissions, which I love the idea of... but is it "that good" worth losing all my application data, etc, prior to root?

Also, will it trip Knox on a Galaxy S5 G906S? I see some people having issues with root, and first flashing instead. So does the SM-G906S (A.K.A. "AT&T S5" and "LTE S5"), on the compatibility list mean *ANY* OS is supported?!? Strange no baseband or firmware listed as supported anywhere, or at least android versions/builds.
