as I´m not able to post in the dev forum as a n00b, I need to post here:
In http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=14464357&postcount=6005 a new STR feature is announced. I really miss the alarm clock feature from my old Nokia, where the alarm would also work when the phone was turned off...I would set the alarm, turn the phone off, go to sleep -> no energy wasted.
Wouldn´t it be a good idea to combine STR with an alarm clock? I guess you could create some lightweight cyclic process that does the job pretty easily.
Motorola even has a quickwakeup patch here: https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/58064/ (from: http://elinux.org/Android_Power_Management, probably already included in the current kernels).
