So here's a question for you guys. Yesterday I sold my thunderbilt and went back to an og Droid in preperation for the prime. I still have my 4g sim card . What would happen if I put it in my xoom? Will I have 2 data devices for the price of one?

When you switch back to a 3G phone, as wesscoggin said, the SIM you were using in your 4G phone becomes deactivated.

Think of it this way... you can have a single 3G phone or a single 4G SIM active on your account/phone line at any time, but not two.. When you switch from the 4G Phone/SIM to a 3G Phone, the SIM gets removed/disassociated from your account. Its just like when you switch between two 3G phones... When the new one gets put on your account, the old one gets deactivated/disassociated from your account.

IN addition, Verizon's system also disables that SIM from being used again. When I last switched from 4G phone to 3G phone, it was back in April. While the web site said the SIM would auto deactivate in 90 days (i.e. not be able to be used after 90 days), I couldn't switch back to it an hour later. lately people are saying you have until midnight to switch back before the SIM can't be used, but I haven't tried since April.

Ok,
I sent my Xoom in on the 5th and recieved it back today upgraded.
I stole the wifes xoom while mine was gone. It wasn't on a data plan so I activated it on mine.
Today, I swapped the sim from my Tbolt into my freshly upgraded xoom without reactivating it on my Xoom data plan.
My 4G Xoom has access to my Tbolts data plan on both 3G and 4G. So the 3G and 4G are both routed through the Sim card on the Xoom.

Dont beat your self up. I'm actually happy you were wrong. Now i can swap the sim to my xoom, have unlimited data on it, and i don't even have to miss calls because I forwarded my cell phone to my Gvoice number and get them on my xoom with Groove IP!

Just out of curiosity, you shut down the Xoom prior to pulling the sim from it? Because I shut mine down and restarted it with the TB sim and I keep getting a FC on android.phone. Just curious.. Thank you..

Hey I didn't see this mentioned or maybe I missed it. Had anyone tried booting the TB up with the Xoom's sim to see if the plans just switch. For example your unlimited plan goes to the Xoom and Tiered plan to the TB? I'm so afraid i'm going to fry the sim popping it in and out of each device haha..

you technically don't pay for minutes on your xoom plan. Even if you have it on a family share plan you don't pay the 9.99 per month for an extra line. Be interesting to see if it works but I wouldn't want to try.
