Is anyone else having a problem with this version of swype? I have installed and uninstalled it NUMEROUS times. It will work for a day or so, then for no reason at all it locks up and you can't swype at all. You have to touch to type. What's up with that? I'm getting sick of doing the installer and uninstalling over and over again.
It will stop working after you reboot. You must switch to touch input and then back to Swype to get it working again.

FWIW, I'd BUY Swype if I could. I'd be a beta tester if it was available. I'd LOVE to support the developers if they would let me.

Instead all I can do is tell everybody what a great option it is. Except they can't use it either.

IMHO, the Swype marketing and product developing team needs to go to business school. I obviously don't know their business plan, and it may very well be as impressive as their keyboard, but from what we've seen so far, apparently they are very good at creating a very nice piece of code, but simply suck at marketing their work.

end rant

Hmm. Haven't noticed it. Maybe I've been lucky. So I'm going to assume he did not mean the dinc forum but XDA forums. Actually I have seen more drama on other forums so I'm going to take it to mean "Forums".

Seemed to be he was commenting on hacking and pirating though. Anyway, it doesn't really matter to me. I was just wondering why he picked on dinc above all others.

The Droid Incredible forums here are nearly a complete waste of time; in particular, the development forum is all but useless. (and, yes, I realize the irony in this very post). I'm not sure if this is due to the popularity of the device, but the WinMo forums I visited don't suffer from this issue to nearly the same degree, and many of the other Droid forums seem to have more on-topic discussion.

Moderation is insufficient and ineffective in these subforums.

FWIW, I strongly disagree. In any event, if it doeson't work for you, feel free to move on.

I appreciate that viewpoint, and thanks for the gentle prod to move on. I don't have much to offer, but I've certainly picked useful information from several threads here.

Signal-to-noise is low here: witness these Swype threads (which really should be locked), the mess that is the "Development" subforum, and the number of users who have to be constantly reminded to use the search feature.

Browse the forums for other devices here and I doubt you'll see the same traits.

The benefits of piracy...

Personally I use Swype and am not in the beta testing. Swype is the best keyboard to happen to android but that being said I wouldn't be buying it when they come out with a version on the market if I hadn't had the opportunity to try it out like I have so far. So you can cry pirate all you want, but the "pirating" of the beta Swype has made me a believer in Swype and you can be sure I will be buying a copy the moment it comes out. So in truth, piracy has just won them a customer and I would imagine there are many others in the same boat, Aaarg!!! Pirates unite! Let's take Swype to the top of the market the moment they release it!!!

P.S. Ninjas not invited to the celebration party of Swype's release.

count me in. I do not mind paying for swype if it has the same performance that it has right now on my phone.
