great from the looks of it we might have something going in the next month or so if people are willing to but this one of a kind and great device.
I expect to have a custom recovery up and running by the end of the weekend. I had one a few months ago, and if I still have the setup, I'll have a custom recovery sooner. But I won't know till tomorrow. It'll be CWM, not TWRP unfortunately.

I'm also intending to get a full build of CM10.2 up on the device, complete with all the standard features (with possibly a *few* exceptions, like the virtual mouse support).

Personally, I leave the overclocking to others. While I'm more than capable of modifying the kernel, I'm really more useful focused on things like features and porting. There are kernel devs who spend months focused on overclocking and different governors. I'm usually busy trying to get features ported or add new features (like adding touch to TWRP, or working on the 3D display and camera on the EVO 3D). I'm sure it won't be long until some new kernels pop up, and obviously by the end of the weekend, *someone* will have a flashable root, on top of the root method already posted.

I'm not worried about the overclocking lol that's them over on the Nvidia forums. I just want development to kick off after that everything else is a gimme and will come in due time.

I want CM-10.2 with full audio and video acceleration, as well as relatively same or better benchmark scores, equal or better battery life, and the full streaming to still work smoothly. :)

It's already been posted in another thread, but I forget which one. It's message 25 (or so). Root is easy, since we have fastboot access already.
OK I seen it but to me it's not root until I can get to recovery and it's properly done the last time I did it this way my device got screwed and had no way to do a recovery had the worst headache in history... I'll wait a bit more until it's more polished...

Hello, just saw this today and thought it would be good update for the first post.

The factory images were posted in whole on Nvidia's developer page

Factory Image: http://developer.download.nvidia.co...ct-nv-recovery-image-shield-8857_194.5436.zip

Source: https://developer.nvidia.com/develop4shield#OSR

Before flashing this recovery image to your SHIELD, connect your SHIELD
via USB to the PC where you downloaded this recovery image.

Next, put your SHIELD into fastboot mode using one of the following methods:
SW method:
Boot to android home screen
Connect the device to linux/windows system
Open terminal(on linux);command prompt(on windows).
Type "adb reboot bootloader" in terminal/command prompt

HW method:
Turn off the device
Press and hold "Back"+"Home"+"SHIELD" buttons till device boots

To flash this recovery image to your SHIELD, run the following commands from
the directory where you extracted the recovery image package:

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot flash staging blob
fastboot flash dtb tegra114-roth.dtb

Bah its a *.tgz inside of zip, the *.tgz is not working with WinRar so I may try 7 zip. It would be great if this was reposted as just a ZIP (not tgz inside) on the Nvidia page with MD5's for each image.

Is it possible to get the MD5's?

Thanks

I unpacked these for everyone and also included the MD5's from my download/extraction.

I'm going to upload them now to my servers. Going to extract all and make it just a zip. Also will give you the option to download the full zip or each file separately. Will be done shortly

Scratch that for now. Having issues getting the .tgz file to extract right.

I can upload the files as I already extracted them. The original OP is away from computers at the moment so I was just gonna wait until he gets back as its his thread. =)

If anyone is wondering why the extraction issue is because its needs to be uncompressed in linux where a GUI for licenses accept. If you have urgent need for the files I can post them.
