Last week I rooted my 7t for the first time, installed a kernel and several root apps. While playing around with magisk modules I managed to soft brick the phone.

Using MSM I restored to 10.0.7, updated to 10.0.9 in settings, unlocked the bootloader and flashed a magisk patched 10.0.9 .img to "boot". This time I was getting error messages from Adaway and other apps that there are 0b left in /system. I must've messed something up, so I did it all over again.

Same deal.

What did I screw up? This was not an issue on my first go 'round.

The fastboot command I used to flash the patched image was:

fastboot flash boot patched_system.img

You need to enable systemless host file in magisk settings.

Thank you. After enabling this, rebooting and trying again I'm still getting the same error. A symlink cannot be created either.

Edit: Never mind. I'm too rusty. Magisk had not been fully setup. It had to finish setup, reboot, enable systemless hosts, install ad hosts, reboot. Thank you for your help. I'll go back to my cave now.
