System memory hardware failure?

Well I've been having all kinds of odd problems over the last few days. My ROM image disappeared, my phone formatted itself shortly before that and now files and whole folders are corrupting every few hours. I can't install anything, my list of installed programs has gone, and one app at a time is becoming corrupt. The whole start menu looks like ..[]OÉ![]%. PPCPimBackup barely works at all on a large restore... basically everything seems buggered and it re-imaging doesn't help.

Is my flash storage corrupt? Does anyone know a way to test it? I bought the phone in October 2008 in the UK, so it should be covered under the EU's 2 year guarantee for electronics law.

Can anyone help me out?
