When I have 3g it feels very quick. I used a speed test app and get:

Down 4200kbps, 2000kbps, then 724kbps in succession
Up 424kbps, 324kbps, 75kbps
Not sure why they dropped so quick, maybe because I pressed "test again" right after each test completed?

Regarding the first one, that's good down isn't it? Up seems a bit slow. I don't know what numbers to expeect I just know when my 3g works it feels very fast. It just doesn't work nearly often enough...

For all you people talking about how Sprint sucks and T-Mobile is amazing, you might want to take a look at T-Mobile's 3G coverage map.
In case you hadn't noticed, it's a little... spotty.
Yes, it's incredibly fast (even compared to Sprint/Clear WiMAX), but that doesn't mean much when it's only available in select areas. Naturally they can make it faster because they don't have as many areas covered.

Compared to Clearwire's WiMAX, T-Mobile HSPA is damn near everywhere.

i would much rather see tmobile get better coverage before 10mbps speeds.
I'm with you on this. I live west of Boston, and drop calls every day at the top of the hill heading down to Crosby's corner on route 2. And the funny thing is, when I look at the phone, it says E with 4 bars. And then there is a 2 mile complete blackout between about rt 126 and rt 117 on route 2 as well. And this is a major route. And head anywhere away more than a 1/2 mile from the major highways out here, and you're lucky if you can keep any calls.

And I'm not even talking 3G coverage here. This is just the ability to make a phone call. Worse than my experience with Sprint > 10 years ago.

I'll give them another 6 months or so. I LOVE my N1, but T-Mo coverage is just awful. They better start investing in coverage. HSPA+ is nice, but it is very localized.

i understand the appeal of tmobile's cheaper price point. but i never understood the love affair over using ATT. on ATT i can drive 100 miles in any direction and i never have anything lower than 5 bars with 2.5Mbps download speeds. seems to have a very decent 3g network everywhere.

Yeah I agree I had an iPhone 3gs before the Nexus One and the Att coverage is def better than T-Mobiles but I just hate the Death Stars cocky price points and company policies. I also like the ability to have an even more plus plan with no contract. Are you able to get the Att service contract free Roger?
