T-Mobile 7t doesn't receive updates

So I bought an used T-Mobile locked 7t and it appeared that it was still on the October 2019 10.03 firmware. I clicked into check for updates and it says "your phone is up to date". Anyone had this issue before? Thanks

Yes, you ran into the infamous bug in the initial ROM released with the HD1925 (T-Mobile exclusive 5G McLaren). That bug was if the bootloader was used to factory default a phone, rather than using the OxygenOS Settings reset feature, an important file for OTA validation was also erased. Meaning unless one corrects this issue manually the phone would never receive another OTA update.
Fortunately there have been some that worked very hard to correct the issue, see the link below.
