Ok so wondering if anyone else is having this issue.

Running the latest ICS rom on T-Mobile US with my grandfather Unlimited Web plan.

I get this new message when I switch the user agent to desktop or to view desktop mode.

It asks me to add the HotSpot Feature. Im wondering WTF T-Mobile!

Any fix for this?

Its just part of new data plans they have available. 5 or 10 gb "unlimited" data plans witch both include free wifi tethering.

The thing is with gingerbread roms I can change the user agent without problems and it will not rediect me to that page every tiem I goto a website.

I have an unlimited plan linked the same way and only with ICS does it send me to that hotspot feature.

i am pretty sure the Tmobile version of sensation will not allow you to use the grandfather plan, which is why i have a Europe edition. was i totally wrong on this?

at the risking of hijacking this thread, had any one flashed Tmobile radio on the europe edition sensation and see an improvement?

thanks

Same problem.. when I talked to T-Mobile after trying everything they finally admitted this was a problem the tech department was working on.. probably part of the reason they have not sent out an ics update..

Last I spoke with a TMOUS rep they tried to sell me on a NEW data plan that included "free" unlimited wifi-tether for an additional $15/mo. I told them that my wifi-tether already worked, and I have a grandfathered plan. I was then told that the feature would soon be deactivated (most likely with the ICS update), and that I would not be grandfathered in at that point.

I laughed and hung up...

It appears that TMOUS is going the way of Verizon and wants to start menu charging for every possible service.

In the stock T-Mobile Galaxy S II Gingerbread ROM, the monitoring was done via a "tethering manager" app that could be frozen. This and other t-mobile tethering apps are included in ICS, but freezing them does not prevent the monitoring.

In the stock T-Mobile Galaxy S II/III ICS ROMs it appears that they have replaced the stock tethering APK with one of their own programming. When you activate mobile hotspot, the tray icon is T-Mobile branded and it monitors natively. The best solution would be to replace that APK (as yet unidentified by me) with the NEXUS or CM version for ICS. While that wouldn't prevent T-Mobile from performing network side user agent monitoring, it would remove the local client monitoring (and get rid of the tacky T-Mobile branded icon).

Paying extra for tethering is unconscionable and should be illegal on all carriers - not just Verizon and AT&T due to their 800MHz use. It is a violation of net neutrality and the basic design premise behind GSM and its heirs.
