T-Mobile USA VoLTE and WiFi calling

Just flashed my G8342 with G8441 OEM.sin, and confirmed not working. Using *#*#4636#*#*, I can't toggle VoLTE. I'm on latest stock Pie for G8342.
Only the US compact supports T-Mobile VoLTE, and they haven't yet released Pie for that model :(
Did you flash an Oreo oem file (haven't tried ... might work), or another region?

Yes, I did flash an Oreo G8441 oem sin onto my Pie G8342..but still does not work. Will try again when Pie is released for G8441.

Does anyone have any idea what might be different between the G8343 model and the others (G8341/G8342) that would cause the Sim card to not be recognized on the G8343 when I install the firmware from the other models? Everything else works but for some reason the cell radio doesn't see the Sim card? I'm wondering if I need to swap a file from the G8343 firmware into the other firmwares for it to work. I don't believe the hardware is actually any different besides the dual Sim. Some G8341 members have reported that Dual Sim firmware works on their devices, but this definitely is not true of the G8343 device using dual Sim firmware.

good day!

Do you happen to still have the G8342 US and AE files you mention in this post (47.1.A.16.20)? I am trying to get this working on a G8343 and cannot locate those files anywhere online. Everywhere has seemed to have already purged those older versions. Thanks!

I might have them but I'll have to check when I get home. @ms2398

I have them if you still need them.
They are extracted (by XperiFirm), but I deleted the "userdata" file already ...
If you want them I can zip them up and put them up somewhere for you.

Do any of you have problems flashing recently?
I updated to a US+AE 47.2.A.2.33 before the holidays.
Just now I wanted to flash the newer US+AE 47.2.A.4.45, but the PC doesn't see the XZ1 flash mode when I plug it in with the volume button held down.
The only thing that has changed on the PC is that I upgraded to the latest Win10 ...

That would be awesome! I really appreciate the help. Check your private messages.

update: I'm running G8343 (Canada).
Pulled G8342 (US) and replaced the 3 sin files, deleted userdata.sin and all *.ta and ran newflasher. I ended up getting the "no sim found" message even though everything flashed fine to the G8342 US version. Does this happen to G8341 Int'l folks? (is it a single sim conflict?)

Took the original G8343 firmware and just replaced the oem_X-FLASH-CUST-C93B.sin from the XZ1C (US). It loaded up, but no VoLTE option. After letting the phone run on T-mobile, it asked for a reboot to optimize the cell connection. After reboot, VoLTE option showed up.

Problem now is cellmapper says I have Band 12 tower down the street, but it WILL not connect to band 12, only Band 2/4. Tmo's BYOD app says no too. I confirmed VoLTE and wifi calling are provisioned (*#*#4636#*#*), but any ideas why it would not connect to Band 12? Sim card/imei needs to be registered (it's ~2 yrs old)?
Did you ever figure out a way to get the dual sim G8342 firmware to work on the single sim G8343 (Canada) model? I am experiencing the same problem that the sim card is no longer recognized when I flash the dual sim G8342 US firmware to the device (I'm using version 47.1.A.16.20). This is problematic because the VoLTE and Wi-FI calling need modem files only found in the dual G8342 US system firmware file. Without the T-Mo IMS file present on the device, the US OEM firmware file from the XZ1 Compact will give us the options to turn on VoLTE and Wi-Fi, but they still will not work because the modem file is missing from all of the non-USA firmwares (all of the single sim variants).

I'm wondering if I rooted the device and just copied the T-mo IMS file to the /etc/customization/modem/ from the G8342 if it would work? Any thoughts from the resident expert of these threads? @pbarrette

I just got a G8342 and found that the Custom US file (47.1.A.16.20) is not there any more, would you mind letting me grab a copy from you? Thanks!

XZ1c US 47.2.A.4.45_R6C was released!!!
I made myself a US/CE1/UScompact Frankenstein firmware, and all the menus that should appear do (VoLTE etc).
Can't test if it actually works since I'm out of the country, but seems likely to work!

So I didn't catch the XZ1 US 47.2.A.4.45 before it changed over to 47.2.A.6.30 and figured I'd try something. I just took the OEM.sin from the XZ1C US 47.2.A.4.45 and put it in the XZ1 CE1 47.2.A.4.45 (removing the userdata_X-FLASH-CUST-C93B.sin to preserve my data) and flashed and it's working great so far. I have VoLTE, WiFi Calling, and the side-fingerprint scanner enabled.

I'll update later if anything goes awry.

If this continues to work, then I've just saved a step every time I need to update.

How's the battery life? I'm on 47.2.A.4.45 w/o VoLTE (but with fingerprint) and it seems to be different.

Alright so the verdict is that there is some significant battery drain.

Normally at this point in the day I'd be around 65-70%. Right now I'm at 53%.

I like the better screen rotation, the granular volume adjusting, but not for the drop in battery life.

I'd suggest waiting.

I went back to 47.1.A.12.119 when the best I could do was flat idle.

But it does prove that the XZ1 will still do fingerprints + VoLTE + VoWiFi in Pie.

After booting up the lockscreen loops over and over trying to unlock. It's definitely more buggy this time around for the XZ1/XZ1c VoLTE combo.
It works though, here are the shots.

Ok so, I mixed:
1. XZ1 47.2.A.6.30 US
2. XZ1 47.2.A.6.30 RU - system and vendor
3. XZ1C 47.2.A.4.45 US - oem

So far, fingerprint, VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling work. No unusual battery drainage noticed. Everything works nicely and smoothly.
