T-Mobile USA VoLTE and WiFi calling

I have the International G8341 on Tmobile. Both Volte and Wifi Calling are searchable in the settings, but not active. Meaning, they ARE part of the build, but not working with Tmobile. Not sure if it's just that I have a UK rom or not. Inversly, Night Light and Tap to Wake are not even searchable, meaning Sony left those bits out of the ROM build.

Got the International because I thought I could have it both ways with FS and Volte. Would love to know if someone has the US variant to know if I should be scanning Flashtool to see if they can update to Oreo for hopes it works. The FS is amazing on this phone, but now that I have Band 12 in the area, it actually matters. (Didn't for the last few years on my Z5, which honestly wasn't that big of a deal, I guess).

Yeah jda, I'm in the same boat, except I don't have the phone. lol I just got Band 12 in my area too finally (Chicago), so it does matter that I have BOTH the FS and VoLTE on T-Mobile. That's so weird that they show up but can't be activated. I didn't know that was possible, but then again, during this past week I've learned that A LOT can happen that I didn't know was possible. Like how 4-5 ONLINE PUBLICATIONS ALL got this T-Mobile VoLTE certification thing WRONG! lol

I'd like to know too if the U.S. variant can enable VoLTE or not. I don't remember now if anyone in here has done that yet or not. I don't think so?

Racer, do you have the U.S. variant or int'l XZ1?

Just a thought, since we can see the T Mobile modem info in the builds but they seem to be disabled; do you think that VoLTE on other carriers could possibly be part of the rumored contact signed with Verizon? It would help explain why they would have that in the builds but disabled. I'm wondering if they are planning on enabling it after the rumored contact expires? It could also explain the "bad" information the news sources got (because the phone would actually have been certified). If they do hopefully one of those with the phone can keep us informed (because I too will not be buying another phone without VoLTE on T Mobile).

That's a VERY interesting theory genorok! Come 1/1/2018 the "rumored" contract b/t Sony Mobile and Verizon from 2015 (Z3v and Z4v, the latter of which never happened) is set to expire. I was actually thinking about this too, that they might enable it come 2018 for ALL the carriers including T-Mobile. I still think it's incredibly strange how so many news sources reported the same thing and it turned out to SUPPOSEDLY be false.

It just sux that we still have to wait another 3 mos from TODAY to even find out. If your theory DOES turn out to be true, it would be awesome but still stupid that Sony didn't just come out and say it from the start. But maybe they didn't wanna delay sales of the XZ1 and XZ1 Compact?? Who f'in' knows?! lol

I stated the model G8342. It's euro/int' dual SIM model
Ok. Thanks again! Much appreciated!

Again, if anyone HAS the U.S. variant of the XZ1 or else the int'l one but FLASHED the U.S. variant on it, please post here and let us know what you see in Settings regarding VoLTE & Wi-Fi Calling. The thing is, I'd be much more willing to buy it if I knew FOR SURE that come 2018 that VoLTE would suddenly be available for enabling. But try telling Sony Mobile that! lol

I just ordered Xperia XZ1 from Amazon USA. It will be delivered today or tomorrow. Ill uodate as soon as I get it.
After reading 7pages, I still couldnt find a definitive answer!
Hi David,

Ok thanks man!

Did you order the int'l version or the U.S. version? The U.S. Amazon site sells both, so that's why I'm asking.

Yeah this whole thing has been quite confusing, which could've been easily avoided if only Sony Mobile wasn't run by such idiots. lol

I ordered US version.
Nice!

Well I know ppl on here have ordered the int'l version and then FLASHED the U.S. firmware on it and said VoLTE shows up in Settings but you can't turn it on. MAYBE the U.S. variant will be different? I honestly kind of doubt it, but who knows? lol And if it doesn't, if you end up keeping the phone anyway, maybe you'll get a nice surprise on New Year's Day?! LOL

I just got Xperia XZ1 US version from Amazon. T-Mobile VOLTE and WiFi Calling are not working. The settings are visible when searching though.
Thank you Sony for ruining it again!
Nice on it coming today instead of tomorrow. But UGHH on the second part. lol I hope you enjoy the phone regardless of that David.

The fact that they're visible DOES give us hope though, but geez what a mess regardless of what happens in January.

I might get the LG V30 instead. The more I read about it the more I love it. Want the unlocked one, but gotta make sure it's VoLTE-certified as well. I'm sure I'll find out soon enough. The U.S. unlocked G6 was someone on here said, so prob will be ok.

No. Its not worth for $700 without those features
Yeah. I hear ya man. I'd most likely return it too. F'in' Sony! lol

MAYBE in 2018 they will turn things around? I guess we'll just have to wait and see. But in the meantime I'm not buyin' their phones, even though the 4K HDR screen on that XZP is f'ing SICK! lol Saw it at Best Buy a few weeks ago. Jaw-dropping! lol And I only saw upscaled 4K, not actual 4K HDR content either.
