The extended warranty only covers what the normal one would. I thought I was getting protection from cracks and hard bricks :p.
The extended warranty does cover hard bricks (as long as they don't know you caused them...) but not cracks.

I have no protection from drops/spills, but (hopefully I'm not jinxing myself) I'm very careful with the device.

Hmm. If it does, then I might be able to go ahead with rooting. If I void my normal warranty, do you know if Assurant will still be valid (could I run into a problem and get it replaced through them)?

Ok guys I'm beginning to get somewhere building cm13 (with some help from @deadman96385). About 9 build errors have been solved. My strategy with this is probably going to be to build for the Galaxy A9, which has identical specs, and work from there. Right now I'm having issues with libhealthd.msm.

Bear with me here, I'm still learning :)
Hey, I don't care if it takes a while, and it's great that you're figuring this out. I'll pretty much be happy as long as it comes out within the next year.

The latest TW (2015+) doesn't really slow down at all, I've had an S6 for about a year and its just as fast as new.
There is nobody working on CM for the T813. CM does not come without somebody making it! (I lied. I'm working on it myself, but my skills are so low, I doubt it will ever happen.)
I just picked up a t-813 myself and absolutely love it. And now I'm thrilled to know someone is working on a CM build for it! You made my day!

@Zacharee1 - has your T813 come yet?

If so, take a look at Good Lock. It requires some messing around in the settings for everything to work properly, but once that's done, it makes the tablet feel very AOSP themed, from the notification drawer, to the lockscreen. Combine that with the Google Now Launcher and you've got something to hold you over until CM is ready :)

Yeah, I've had it for a while now. I installed Good Lock some time ago, but it doesn't suit me. It's too white and purple, there's no preview for open apps in the Recents queue, lockscreen is portrait only, and it's just not what I want. Right now, the S7 TW look this thing comes with is good enough for me.

You can turn off the recent apps modifications and change the color of it entirely to suit your needs. I have a dark-gray theme to match AOSP right now. In the Good Lock Settings>Routines. Also, there is a build.prop tweak to force lockscreen rotation.

I'd need root for the build.prop though, wouldn't I?

You... you don't have root???:confused:
Even with the federal law I just found out about that says manufacturers can only void your warranty if rooting led to the issue, I still have SquareTrade insurance. They are extremely unclear on whether or not they will cover a rooted device, so I haven't rooted.

On a side note, I know I have to wipe everything to get rid of encryption, but is it possible to root with a limited TWRP so that I can use Titanium Backup before decryption? There isn't much on here (maybe not anything) that Google doesn't back up, but I like to be sure.

No - you have no choice but to wipe it clean.
Also - squaretrade does not cover rooted devices, but if it breaks just intentionally brick it so they can't find out :D
But that's entirely your decision.
