Couple of questions :)
What is CSC?
"Backup first." How? Do you mean there is a way I need to back up in order to revert back to MM? or simply, stick photos onto my MicroSD card?
"Odin the BTU Tar (turn off reboot first) " Just normal Odin but uncheck reboot?
"Disconnect Tab, reset odin. Re-connect phone (no re-boot necessary) " This is in preparation for the next step?
" Odin TWRP (turn off reboot first) " Why is TWRP needed ? Just used odin and tar in the past.. Not rooted :)
"Boot to TWRP" What for ?
"Format data" I'm still lost :D
I never have rooted.. no clue what TWRP is for. No idea what you mean
That's what I get for assuming...
Too many questions for this thread.

Here's a thread for some guides and stuff :

This is @ashyx 's thread for his version(s) of TWRP custom recovery... backup, restore and install (flash).
If you have TWRP questions you can ask there.

Certain members of these forums remind me of some students I teach. They want to be spoon fed all of the answers rather than take notes and do the required research, studying and reading. Just sayin'. ;)

I have installed the stock nougat (T813XXU2BQD1_T813OXA2BQD1_DBT) on my T813 and everything is working very well. I like the overall appearance and performance but the battery drains much faster than it did on Lineage or even stock MM. That is pretty much a deal breaker for me since I use my tablet all day long and it is not always convenient to plug in. I also think it is the result of Samsung trying to do too much with a mid range tablet.

Bottom line is I will be going back to Lineage if I can't find ways to extend my battery life.

I'm still under warranty here, less than a year old. But, I reset network connections multiple times and got it working again. The 5ghz networks still weren't showing, but a third party app allowed me to connect to one, and now settings shows them. So, everything seems smooth again.
What third party app?

Thread cleaned (lightly).

As a point of forum etiquette, "unrelated" questions MUST be asked in the Q and A Forum for the device, particularly when they are fairly "basic". Please raise a new thread there.

The Q and A forum is ideal for those with little previous knowledge and is host to many folk who like to help...

How did that app help you connect to 5 Ghz?

I tried and the Mac address to my 5Ghz connection is seen as 2.4 with the app and every other wifi analyzing app.
The mac address, if same router, will be almost identical, mine shows both the 2.4 and the 5 as separate, with the proper 5G symbol, the third screen (list view) shows all available connections, and all 5G networks are properly identified. Sorry if this doesn't help you, it certainly works for me.

interesting and no worries. I'm going to try a different router to see if I'm able to connect to my 5Ghz signal.

Well, I was able to improve battery life by installing Naptime so I will be staying with the rooted, stock rom for now. The improved battery life added to the fact that my Lineage backup is apparently corrupted is incentive enough. Besides, I do like the overall look and feel of stock. And with root I am able to do everything I was able to do under Lineage. Now if someone would develop a decent custom kernel that is compatible with this ROM. :good::good::good::good::good:

I also have great battery life in stock nougat. And haven't rooted it yet. I'll see how long I can go "stock" :)

Successfully updated to Nougat via OTA (WiFi). USA

I went into Settings and used the option to manually check for any OTA update. I was please to find one available.

I successfully updated my S2 T813 to Nougat via OTA (WiFi) in New York. Based on prior comments, I checked that both the WiFi 2.4G and 5G are working just fine after the updates. :) I am now running Nougat 7.0 SM-T813XXU2BQD1

Yeah, I thought about doing the same thing, but there are too many apps I like and use regularly (Titanium BU for one) that require root. And I am too much a techy too be satisfied with full stock. ;)

Nougat stock version has a huge difference in system memory

I hope you can dissipate my doubt. I bought a galaxy tab s2 64Gb, once upgraded to Nougat, system memory used reports 10.87 Gb, and compared with my actual tab s2 32 Gb, it uses only 7.85 Gb. Why this huge difference about 3 Gb one vs other? Both are T-813.

Thanks in advance!

5G problems

I came here to ask a question about stock nougat firmware for the S2 9.7. SM-T813 But I see there are others here reporting the 5G issue. I got the Nougat OTA update back in May 4th. I hadn't noticed any issue until the last few weeks then I noticed the 5G connection issue it seems I am reading about here.

FYI I have further troubleshooting tips in case anyone is wondering. I did some extensive testing today to try and see what was going on in my situation. What I have determined, at least in my case, it my S2 has no problems seeing the lower channels(36, 40, 44, 48) on my 2 router's/APs I use here. However I DO see the issue only on the upper channels(140, 153, 157, 161, 165). For some reason the S2 5G radio can see the lower channel signal but it appears the upper channels/bands are not visible. I was able to duplicate this with 2 separate routers. A Netgear R7800 and an Asus RT-AC66R. The Netgear also has usable DFS channels available which are in between the lower band channels and the upper band channels. A random selection of those DFS channels(top, middle and bottom) all worked okay with the S2.

So for whatever reason it appears this new firmware for the S2 mucked up the 5G radio so that it does not receive the upper band/channels used in 5G routers. The lower bands seem to work okay.

I was actually looking for the stock Nougat firmware to possible attempt to reflash with a different version vs the OTA I got in case it was corrupted somehow and caused this anomaly.
