TAB S2- Exynos (2015.) vs Snapdragon (2016.)- is there any sense to buy new one?

No one has anserd my question what dose encryption of new one even mean ?
Is this not something Samsung can patch?
Encryption is been on Android / Sammy phones for a long time.
With the T713/Marshmallow it came encrypted by default.
This was intended to make the device more secure for the end user.
It is in no way a move to try and do something sinister or shady to its customers.

After spending a few weeks with both the 2015 and 2016 models i can say that the 2016 is a downgrade in almost every aspect. The 2015 performs better, it runs cooler and smoother. Games play at full frame rate while the 2016 model struggles in most games i tried. The 2016 model also heats up more than the 2015 one when gaming or browsing the web.
UI smoothness is better on the 2015 . Gmail for example is a stuttery mess on the 2016 model while it runs great on the older model.
Speaker are better on the 2015 model,. There is noticeable difference.
I am not sure what Samsung tried to achieve with releasing an inferior model with the same name, 8 months after the initial launch, I am honestly surprised that the 2016 models performs worse as it should have a better CPU and GPU (at least according to the benchmarks).
Hopefully an S3 is coming this year.

I bought the new version with snapdragon and I must say it's really bright , I feared the lag and yet at the time really runs smoothly . At the moment I'm totally satisfied.
Compared to my previous tab 10.2 sammy this is another planet .

Very strange what you say , I own only the new model with snapdragon , but gmail is very fluid, as well as everything else . A few days after I installed "inbox " because I prefer it to gmail .

If I was forced today I'd buy the Exynos version. The CPU has been around for ages, (Note 4,) which means loads of development should have been done which is great when Samsung stops giving us updates.

I bought my 2nd hand 2015 a few days ago and I've been really impressed with the speed and battery life. :D

If you can afford to wait for the S3, do that and then make a decision. You still may end up with an S2 but you will be paying less for sure. :victory:

im overall really happy with my exynos s2 but hope they put a bigger battery into the s3...id say thats the only downside ive noticed but i guess its a trade off for the thinness of the device..

I have the tab s2 8 inch snapdragon version. Every hour or so (sometimes more frequently) wifi would drop from my netgear router and reconnect. A bit annoying. Anyone else experiencing this?

The issue is with 802.11n 2.4ghz, if you set your router to 802.11b+g or switch to 5ghz then there shouldn't be any dropouts. The issue with 802.11n 2.4ghz may have been fixed with the T713XXU1APG1 Update, at least for my Asus router. I now use 5ghz ac anyway as its way faster than 2.4ghz bgn, and had no issues so far.

No, it's hardware. It's a borked crypto implementation courtesy of Qualcomm and affects all the Snapdragon chips (I believe). They have not said whether the same or a similar problem exists with Exynos yet.

I am updated to t713xxu1apg1. Also I have 3 other different tablets and 2 phones that don't experience any drop out. I'm starting to think it's faulty wifi hardware/drivers on my t713. Hopefully a future update will fix it as I'm unable to buy new router for now. Thanks for input.

Its coming. You would be stupid not to wait and see what the s3 is.
Of course it's coming. The question is when... and all I'm saying is that there's nothing credible to indicate it's going to be next month. Not a single leak that not's either clickbait, mistaking it for the refreshed Tab S2 with SD 652/620, or both.

I say the S3 is going to be a rebadged 2016 Qualcomm S2 that's already out... R&D is expensive and these tablets are already good. Like I said not that they couldn't be improved with a better/faster CPU and a litte more RAM but they still rule over pretty much anything else.

So how big of a difference there is between T713 (2015) vs T713 (2016). Not sure which one i should go for - the 2015 version goes for 315 euros here while 2016 is about 350-370 euros. Is going for 2016 version worth those 20% price/50-60 euros difference

I feel like such a fool and wasted time and gas money. From the mixed reviews I've seen across the web on the t710 vs t713, I was so curious that I returned my t713 for a t710. I mainly did it because I thought the t710 would run cooler, but I got temperatures over 200 degrees Fahrenheit just surfing the web on the t710 in a cool room! Luckily I got to return it and get a t713 back. From my experience the t713 is superior in every way. The CPU, GPU and battery life are all better on the t713. It also runs cooler even though it still gets pretty hot too. The bottom line is the t713 is the best tablet out there for the price and there is no reason to think about going with the t710 over the t713.

Can anyone comment how CSR Racing 2 runs on the Snapdragon? I have a T-810 and am considering switching. Lots of positive things written here about SD but noticed a few people saying Exynos is much better in long term.

CSR Racing 2 runs smoothly in snapdragon, possibly a few fps more than the exynos. Not significant enough to warrant a switch however, if you can wait a few more months it'd better to switch to the Tab S3, due to be released early Q1 2017.
Cheers for the reply. I play CSR 2 a lot on mine and it definitely does not run smoothly (at least nothing compared to ipad air 2). If it costs me nothing to switch to snapdragon, would it be worth it? Don't want to wait for S3 given that it might get further delayed because of Samsung's Death Note fiasco.
